Week 6 Wednesday Round of 16 games preview

MIES (Switzerland) - The final slate of four games for the Round of 16 in Season Six of the Basketball Champions League is set for Wednesday March 23, as spots in the Quarter-Finals are up for grabs in Group I.

Here's a look at the four games scheduled for Wednesday:

Game 1: Galatasaray Nef (1-4) vs. MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg (3-2) - Group I

  • Galatasaray have lost four of their five BCL games played in the round of 16 after winning five of their six regular season games in 2021-22; they scored fewer than 75 points in each of their last two home games (W1 L1) after scoring 80+ points in each of their previous six home games in the competition (W4 L2).
  • Among the teams that progress further than the regular season in the BCL this season, only Galatasaray have scored more points from their three-pointers (369) than their two-pointers (362) this season.
  • DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell has scored 10+ points in his last 14 games in the BCL, the longest active scoring streak amongst all players still competing in the league; he also holds the longest ever streak of games with 10+ points scored (20 games).

  • Jonah Radebaugh has scored in double-digits in each of his last three games with Ludwigsburg but is yet to do it in more consecutive games in the competition; he has combined for 16+ points and 8+ rebounds in each of his last two games after never doing it in his previous 10.

  • Szombathely are making 23 two-pointers per game in the BCL this season, more than any other team; among the teams that have played more than six games this season, they are the only one to have made at least four times more two-pointers (253) than three-pointers (63).
  • Zoltan Perl has scored 20+ points in two of his last three BCL games with Szombathely, as many times as in his previous 24 appearances in the league; Perl hasn't missed a free-throw in any of his last five games in the BCL, scoring all his 19 shots from the line in that span.

  • Jordan Howard will play his first road game with Strasbourg in the BCL; he has scored an average of 17 points per game in his two previous appearances while making 3+ shots from behind the arc in each of those games.
