BAXI Manresa pour in 103 points, dominate Nutribullet Treviso on the road

TREVISO (Italy) - BAXI Manresa were ready to go right from tip-off, as they ran away with a 103-88 victory over Nutribullet Treviso in both team's first game back in the Basketball Champions League after the break.

This is the second time that Manresa have scored 100+ points in a BCL game, and it's the second time that it happened in a road game (121 points against Torun in December 2019).

Turning point: Treviso never led in the game but got to within three points (67-70) with less than two minutes to go in the third quarter, only to have Manresa go on a 17-3 run between the end of the third quarter and into the fourth quarter. Luke Maye scored 9 points during the run for Manresa and Treviso never got that close again.

Game heroes: Manresa were led by their three-headed attack of Maye, Chima Moneke and Joe Thomasson.

The three players combined to score 58 of the team's points, as Maye finished with 22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks (7-of-11 FG, 3-of-3 3P), Moneke finished with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals (7-of-11 FG) and Thomasson finished with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals (7-of-12 FG, 2-of-4 3P).

Thomasson has now dished out 8+ assists in each of his last two BCL games after not having more than three in any of his previous six games in the competition.

Stats don't lie: Manresa took advantage of 21 turnovers by Treviso, as they outscored them 30-12 in points from turnovers.

There was also a big disparity in free throws, as Manresa knocked down eight more free throws than Treviso (22-of-28 compared to 14-of-18).

Manresa dished out 30 assists on 35 made field goals and those 30 assists are the most by a team in the BCL this season. They are the first team with 30+ assists in a single game since March 2021.

Bottom line: Treviso's Henry Sims recorded 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists, becoming the first player to combine for more than 15 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in a BCL game this season.

21-year-old Giordano Bortolani also dropped in 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 from three-point. He is now 26-of-48 from three-point range in 11 BCL games.

Treviso are now 0-3 and currently sit in fourth place in Group J, while Manresa are now 2-1 and sit in second place in the group.

These two teams will square off again later this week on Thursday March 10 at 21:00 CET.

They said: "I wish I could've did more to get the win, but it felt good being out there with my guys," said Sims. "I think it was too many turnovers for us. I think we were playing too excited. We didn't cherish possessions like we should've. Defensively, we had too many lapses, too many mistakes; everybody, me included. Next couple days, we gotta figure it out and get back to the drawing board and we see them again on Thursday."

"It was a good game. It's always good to win," said Maye. "We had a great team win and we battled from the very beginning. ... We'll see them again in a couple days, so it'll be another tough game."

"Treviso is a good team, basketball is a game of runs," said Thomasson. "We knew that coming in it was gonna be tough playing here because we're in their home gym, but we just have to stay the course, believe in what we do, have faith in our energy and our effort and listen to the coaching staff. We took their best punches, and we gave them a haymaker at the end."
