Lenovo Tenerife cruise to 18-point road victory over SIG Strasbourg

STRASBOURG (France) - Lenovo Tenerife had no trouble getting by SIG Strasbourg in an 85-67 victory to remain unbeaten at 2-0 in the Round of 16 Group L.

The 18-point defeat was Strasbourg's second largest in the BCL, after suffering a 22-point loss against Torun in December 2019 (75-97).

Strasbourg guard and scoring and assists leader John Roberson (17.6 points, 4.6 assists per game), was not available for the game, as he had discomfort in his left knee.

Turning point: Tenerife led wire-to-wire and opened their lead to as many as 21 points on multiple occasions in the second half.

Game heroes: Giorgi Shermadini (17 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks, 6-of-9 FG) and Sasu Salin (16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 6-of-10 FG, 4-of-8 3P) led the way for Tenerife, as the two combined for 33 points.

Salin has scored 10+ points in five BCL games this season, all of them coming on the road.

Stats don't lie: Tenerife outscored Strasbourg by 18 points in three-point shooting, as they knocked down six more threes (11-5).

Tenerife also scored 42 bench points with Sasu Salin (16 points), Kyle Wiltjer (10 points) and Fran Guerra (9 points) combining for 35 of those points.

Bottom line: Gaylor Curier led Strasbourg with 12 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in 19 minutes off the bench.

Strasbourg are now 1-1 and the French club will travel to face Falco Szombathely next on February 8 at 18:00 CET.

With the loss, Strasbourg fell short of tying their longest winning streak of four games in the competition.

Tenerife are now 2-0 and the Spanish club will host Rytas Vilnius next on February 8 at 19:30 CET.

This is the 16th straight win for Tenerife when they give up less than 80 points.

After recording 9 assists in tonight's game, Marcelinho Heurtas has now dished out 285 assists, the third most by any player in BCL history.

Huertas has 8+ assists in each of his last five BCL games, while no other player has had a longer streak.
