
Besiktas Icrypex erase 14-point deficit and earn first win
OLDENBURG (Germany) - Despite trailing by as many as 14 points, Besiktas Icrypex came back and pulled out an 83-81 win to give EWE Baskets Oldenburg their first loss of the Basketball Champions League season.
After Besiktas went 1-of-2 from the free throw line, Rickey Paulding (15 points) had a chance to win it at the buzzer for Oldenburg, but the shot rimmed out, giving Besiktas the narrow victory.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (21 points), Jordan Bone (18 points), Dedric Lawson (15 points), Trevon Blueitt (13 points) and Isaiah Whitehead (12 points) accounted for all but four of Besiktas' points.
Turning point: After Oldenburg held a 52-42 lead at halftime, Besiktas stormed out to a 17-1 run to start the third quarter and outscored Oldenburg 25-13 in the frame.
Besiktas then held a 67-65 lead after three.
Oldenburg made one last push in the fourth quarter and went on a 10-1 run to cut the deficit to 82-81, but that was as close as they got.
Game hero: Rondae Hollis-Jefferson led the way for Besiktas and almost double-doubled with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks.
The 26-year-old shot efficiently all-around, going 7-of-12 from the field, 1-of-1 from three-point and 6-of-7 from the free-throw line, finishing with an efficiency rating of 30.

Stats don't lie: The most glaring stat from the game was in three-point shooting, as Besiktas (9-of-20) outscored Oldenburg (5-of-21) by 12 from beyond the arc.
Besiktas also shot 51.6% from the field and used their team quickness to outscore Oldenburg 14-4 in fast break points.
Bottom line: Besiktas move to 1-1 in Group H and will host Rytas Vilnius on Nov. 2.
Oldenburg are also now 1-1 and will travel to face Hereda San Pablo Burgos on Nov. 2.
