Ugurlu, Arslan get 20 points in the fourth to finish a 33-point swing by Tofas

BURSA (Turkey) - Things always get a bit more interesting when teams from the same country meet in the Basketball Champions League. Tofas Bursa claimed their second win over Darussafaka in a matter of two and a half days, this one ending 91-81.

The two teams also played on Sunday, in a Turkish League matchup, and Tofas used a similar kind of comeback, winning the last quarter 27-5 to pick up an 81-65 win.

Turning point: Darussafaka opened up the game with a 31-point first quarter, but the fact that Tofas stayed positive despite being down by as many as 15 points reflected on the rest of the game. They caught Darussafaka by halftime and once again used a strong fourth quarter to win the game.

It was a 68-65 game as the final stanza started, as Tofas' Turkish core took over. Yigit Arslan and Berk Ugurlu joined forces to score 20 of their 23 points in the period, which saw a 14-0 run in the middle of it to send the hosts to cruise control in the final minutes.

From -15 in the first quarter to +18 in the last one, Tofas won the middle part of the game by an unreal 33-point margin.

Game heroes: Berk Ugurlu finished with 19 points and 6 assists, Yigit Arslan knocked down four triples for 16 points, providing a much needed spark for coach Ahmet Caki.

Stats don't lie: With Tyler Ennis (7pts, 4ast) joining the starting lineup, Tofas' depth got a boost by having guys like Pako Cruz and Arslan coming off the bench. The two of them had 29 points between them, creating a 39-9 edge in bench points.

Bottom line: Tofas start their Round of 16 with a win, and will hope to take full advantage of a favorable schedule when they play host to BAXI Manresa next week. Darussafaka get a chance to bounce back against Nutribullet Treviso, as big games from Gabriel Olaseni (26pts, 8reb) and Dogus Ozdemiroglu (18pts, 7reb, 7ast, 2stl) go to waste.

They said:

"We were losing by 15, but the team stuck together, and fought together. We played good team basketball and won this game against a really good team. Darussafaka are a big team in the Turkish League, and eliminated Burgos in the (Basketball) Champions League, that's why we are happy." - Tofas Bursa head coach Ahmet Caki

"I think we played against a well-coached Dacka team, it was really good to have our players back, Muhsin (Yasar) and Pako (Cruz). It was a complete team effort. Of course, we want to do a lot better, with fouling and defensively how we opened the first quarter." - Elgin Cook, Tofas Bursa
