Sweep completed, Ludwigsburg take a big step towards Quarter-Finals

DIJON (France) - Even though they've only played three games, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg already managed to pick up their brooms and complete the sweep over JDA Dijon, which could be all important in the battle for the Quarter-Finals.

Ludwigsburg won the game 84-72, sending them to 2-1, while dropping Dijon to 2-2. Both of Ludwigsburg's wins were against Dijon, both of Dijon's defeats were against Ludwigsburg.

Turning point: MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg had the upper hand since the second quarter, but JDA Dijon kept on coming back and trying to make things interesting for the packed stands in the Palais des Sport Jean-Michel Geoffroy.

When David Holston made a three-pointer to cut the gap to 65-72 from Dijon's point of view, it seemed we were heading into dramatic final three minutes.

However, Jordan Hulls had other ideas. Back-to-back three-pointers sent the game back to double digits, and John Patrick's men did not look back the rest of the way.

"When Jordan gets hot, he's one of the most amazing shooters we've seen. He's missed five weeks with an injury and he really wanted to come back for this game," coach Patrick praised his point guard, who was 0-of-3 from deep until that point.

Game hero: Jonah Radebaugh had 10 points and 7 assists, James Woodard scored 12 points off the bench, but it was the 40-year-old Tremmell Darden who looked like a superstar for Ludwigsburg.

Darden had 15 points in just 12:29 of action, getting into double digits for the sixth time in his eight BCL game this season.

Stats don't lie: Everything was on Ludwigsburg's side of the boxscore, but their inside game was too much for Dijon. The German side was +10 in paint points, +8 in second chance points, +6 in offensive rebounds, with the usual +8 in points from turnovers.

Bottom line: Ludwigsburg have a busy week ahead, facing Galatasaray Nef on Monday and Hapoel U-NET Holon on Wednesday, both games in Germany. It's a wonderful opportunity for them to climb to 4-1 at home, but also a potential danger of dropping games at home or not catching the margin from their defeat in Israel.

Dijon are in trouble in case of a tie with Ludwigsburg, but have a huge chance to get a sweep themselves, as they play host to Galatasaray Nef on Wednesday.

They said:

"It was a hard fought win. We understand that every game is very precious, coming in here we knew that all road games are difficult. We just wanted to earn everything we got, the guys are very happy because everybody contributed to this win. Everybody who came in had an impact some kind of way. Sometimes it's going to be seen, sometimes it's not, but people who know basketball know guys had an impact." - Tremmell Darden, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg

"Very proud of our guys, it was a hard fought game. Dijon gave everything, they had a tough schedule playing three games in five days, so we knew that coming in, and we wanted to make it a full court game. We outrebounded them, and that was one of the key points, that we can outrebound a bigger and more physical team. We had great input from everyone coming off the bench. It's an honor to coach against Khadeen Carrington, one of the best players we ever had in our organization." - MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg head coach John Patrick

"I feel like we fought as a team, but in the end it wasn't enough. We gave ourselves a good chance to win, we got to stay locked in and try to win a couple more." - Khadeen Carrington, JDA Dijon

"The parameters of the game, points from turnovers, second chance points, fast break points, bench points - all in their favor. 14 offensive rebounds, too many easy points, we didn't respond in many aspects of the game in the first half. We were too soft to play against this kind of a team. We tried to matchup our toughness with their toughness, but we couldn't do it. We played a lot of time with zero fouls, which is unbelievable for this kind of a game, and then you receive point by point and you still don't commit fouls. The game and momentum was on their side. We fought hard, but every time we came close they had an answer in offensive rebounds or easy points." - JDA Dijon head coach Nenad Markovic
