Darussafaka use 14-0 run to pull away from Nutribullet Treviso, grab first win in Round of 16

ISTANBUL (Turkey) - After losing their first Round of 16 Group J game, Darussafaka bounced back tonight in convincing fashion with an 88-76 victory over Nutribullet Treviso.

Treviso were looking to win four games in a row for their first time in the Basketball Champions League but fell short.

Each of Treviso's last four games (three wins, one loss) have now been decided by at least 12 or more points after only having a double figure margin in one of their first five games in the BCL.

Turning point: After being up 44-40 at halftime, Darussafaka opened the third quarter on a14-2 run to extend their lead and open the game up.

However, Treviso erased a 16-point deficit and finished the third quarter on a 9-0 run to only trail 69-68 heading into the fourth quarter.

Darussafaka got back on track and outscored Treviso 19-8 in the fourth quarter, as they used a 14-0 run to put the game away, capped off by two threes by Troy Caupain who led the team in scoring with 19 points along with 2 rebounds and 6 assists.

Game hero: Dogus Ozdemiroglu, who was just named to the BCL team of the month for January, had another great showing and stuffed the stat sheet for Darussafaka with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals on 6-of-12 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 from three-point.

Ozdemiroglu has 2+ steals in 12 consecutive games, tied for the most in BCL history with Daniel Waldin-Mullings for Kataja between November 2016 – January 2017.

Stats don't lie: Darussafaka dominated points in the paint, as they had a 42-22 advantage.

Darussafaka club also forced 16 turnovers and outscored Treviso 18-12 in points from turnovers.

While Treviso knocked down seven more threes (15-8), Darussafaka made more than twice as many shots from inside the arc than Treviso (25-12).

Treviso are now one of four teams to have made 15 or more threes in multiple BCL games this season, joining PAOK mateco, Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem and Galatasaray Nef.

Bottom line: Giordano Bortolani, who is a candidate for the Best Young Player award, led Treviso with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists off the bench, while shooting 7-of-15 from the field and 2-of-6 from three-point.

The 21-year-old scored 19 of the team's 40 bench points.

Darussafaka are now 1-1 in the Round of 16 Group J and the Turkish club will travel to face BAXI Manresa next on February 9 at 21:00 CET.

Darussafaka have now won five of their eight home games played in the BCL, including four of their last five.

Treviso are now 0-1 in the group and the Italian club will host Tofas Bursa next on February 8 at 20:30 CET.
