On December 6 though, the club announced that they had decided to part ways with the veteran tactician and the next day they appointed Luca Dalmonte as their new head coach. The 57-year-old Italian tactician had worked as an assistant coach at Fortitudo during a five-year span in the 1990s.

The 'Effe' already had on the team Italian international Pietro Aradori, the league's third-leading scorer, and went on to add the Serie A top scoring duo, in Ethan Happ  and Adrian Banks.

Happ, a 24-year-old big man who started the 2019-20 at Greek powerhouse Olympiacos, was recruited by Sacchhetti at Cremona midway through the season and averaged 18 points, 9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in the Serie A.
