Team of the month for March: Ragland, Huertas, Graves, Sleva, Echenique

MIES (Switzerland) - The Quarter-Finals are just around the corner in Season 8 of the Basketball Champions League. But before we move to the next phase, it's time to honor the players who shined the brightest in the month of March.

These five players deserved their spots on the Team of the Month for March.

Peristeri bwin climbed back from an 0-3 record to pick up three straight wins and advance to the Quarter-Finals. Joe Ragland is the biggest reason why, getting 50 points across three games, - 16.7 points per game - while also dishing out 11 assists and making 50 percent of his shots from beyond the arc.

The lefty playmaker is on a 13-game long streak of +10-point games in the BCL, and he's reached double digits in assists in eight games already. With two double-doubles in March, Ragland extended his all-time lead in career double-doubles with 16. He is six double-doubles ahead of anybody else in BCL history.

Ragland is joined in the backcourt by his rival in Group K, Marcelinho Huertas, who is playing arguably the best basketball of his life at 40. March saw the Brazilian legend scoring over 30 points in a single game for the first time ever in any European (non domestic) competition.

The Lenovo Tenerife point guard averaged 23.7 points in March, with just over 6 assists per game, as well. The 31 points he scored against Peristeri marked the fourth time he went over 30 in his career, three of those performances coming over the last two years with Tenerife.

The man on the wing on the Team of the Month for March is Jayvon Graves. MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg made it back to the Quarter-Finals, while Graves announced his candidacy to end the season as the top scorer in the Basketball Champions League.

Graves scored a total of 62 points in three games in March, giving him a total of 263 points this season, as he is leading the league in scoring. He is third in points per game with 17.5, trailing only Vernon Carey Jr (17.8 PPG) and Anthony Cowan (18.6 PPG).

Ludwigsburg will face UCAM Murcia next, and will need to keep an eye on another member of the Team of the Month. Dustin Sleva has been almost perfect in March, averaging 16 points with just under 8 rebounds per game, for an average efficiency rating of 23.

Sleva shot 13-of-15 from two-point range, and 6-of-13 beyond the three-point line in the three games which led UCAM Murcia to secure the top spot in their group and get homecourt advantage in the Quarter-Finals.

Finally, the center spot on the Team of the Month belongs to a player who played his best game against UCAM. Jaime Echenique has been consistent throughout the season, providing the backbone for Promitheas Patras' guards to get most of the highlights and praise.

Echenique scored 40 points in 55 minutes on the floor during March, leading Promitheas to a couple of wins and their first ever appearance among the elite eight in the BCL.

Against AEK BETSSON BC, the center picked up his first double-double of his BCL career with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The MVP of the Month for March will be announced on Friday.
