38 things to look out for in Wednesday's games

MIES (Switzerland) - The remaining six Play-In series get underway on Wednesday, with the teams that have homecourt advantage hosting their opponents for Game 1 of their best-of-three series.

Here are 38 things you need to know ahead of the six Wednesday games:

Rytas Vilnius v Peristeri bwin

Game 1 - 18:30 CET - Vilnius, Lithuania

The return of Marcus Foster felt like a Christmas gift to many Rytas fans

● Rytas have brought back combo guard Marcus Foster, who had spent the 2022-23 season in Vilnius and led the team in scoring and efficiency in the BCL, averaging 20.6 points per game on an efficiency rating of 16.5

● Rytas are currently riding a 4-game winning streak, their longest in competition history. They are 8-1 in their last nine home games, and 4-0 in the four most recent, albeit each of the last two was decided by a margin of exactly two points.

● Peristeri are 3-11 in their last 14 away games in the BCL but one of those wins came in the most recent road game (90-87at Falco Szombathely). The Greek side have never won consecutive road games in the competition. They lost both road games they played in last season's Play-Ins, against JDA Dijon.

● Rytas lead the league in second-chance points with 20.5 points per game. Not surprisingly, this is a direct consequence of them leading the league also in offensive rebounds, with 19 per game. By comparison, the second-best offensive rebounding team, MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg, averages 15.2 offensive boards per contest.

● If Gytis Radzevicius of Rytas registers a double-double also on Wednesday he will have achieved that feat in three games in a row for the first time in his BCL career. He scored 10+ points in five of his last six home games in the BCL, as often as in his previous 14.

● Peristeri's Trevor Thompson tallied 47 points over his last three BCL games, after scoring a total of 37 points in his first 11 games combined. He also had 7+ rebounds in each of his last four BCL games after averaging 1.2 rebounds per game in his previous 10 appearances in the league.

Pinar Karsiyaka v Rio Breogan

Game 1 - 18:30 CET - Izmir, Turkiye

Ben McLemore has moved  from Athens to Lugo but continues in the BCL

● Breogan have penned sharp-shooting winger Ben McLemore, who started the season at AEK Betsson BC and averaged 9.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game in the BCL Regular Season. Breogan parted ways with Justin Anderson.

● Karsiyaka are 3-0 in their last three home games in the BCL. Their longest-ever win streak at home extended to 10 games, between December 2016 and November 2017. The Izmir team scored 80+ points in each of their last eight home games in the competition.

● Breogan have played six games in the BCL and the home team ended up winning in all six. The Lugo team have never led after the first quarter in any of their three games on the road.

● Karsiyaka average 23.7 points per 2nd quarter, while giving up only 16.3 in that frame on average. This 7.3 point differential in the second quarter is the highest in a single period in the BCL this season. It is however the only quarter in which the Turkish side outscores their opponents this season.

● Karsiyaka's Vernon Carey Jr. has become only the third player in BCL history to score 15+ points in each of his first six games in his debut season in the competition, after Chris Wright (first seven games) and Jacob Pullen (first eight games). Carey Jr. also had 7+ rebounds in each of his last four BCL games.

● Breogan's Martynas Sajus posted BCL career-highs of 24 points and 11 rebounds in the last game, against Telkom Baskets Bonn. Sajus, who has 22 BCL appearances overall, had a total of 16 points and 13 rebounds in his first five games with Rio Breogan in the competition.

Cholet Basket v Banco di Sardegna Sassari

Game 1 - 20:00 CET - Cholet, France

Cholet's Neal Sako has been on a tear in recent games

● Sassari have signed veteran point guard Brandon Jefferson, who last played in the BCL with SIG Strasbourg, during the 2020-21 season, averaging 15 points and 3.6 assists per game.

● Cholet are 4-2 in their six home games in the BCL but lost the most recent one (91-85 against Lenovo Tenerife). The French team were leading at halftime in each of their last three home games.

● Sassari, who are coming off a 97-81 win over King Szczecin, are hoping to win back-to-back BCL games for the first time in their last 28 games (this number stretches back several seasons). Sassari are 2-10 in their last 12 road games in the competition.

● Cholet have the BCL's worst defense at the three-point arc, allowing opponents to make 13 three-pointers per game on average. Sassari made 12+ three-pointers in each of their last two BCL games, and if they make at least 10 three-pointers on Wednesday it will be the first time in BCL history they make 10 or more in three consecutive games.

● Cholet's Neal Sako scored a total of 36 points over his last two games after scoring 26 points in his first four BCL appearances combined. Sako had 5+ rebounds in each of his first six BCL games, including 9+ rebounds in his two most recent home games.

● Sassari's Breein Tyree posted 20+ points and 5+ assists in each of his last two BCL games. By comparison, he had posted this statline in only one of his first 13 BCL games. Tyree made 3 or more three-pointers in each of his last three games in the competition, as often as in his previous 12 BCL games.

Hapoel Holon v Filou Oostende

Game 1 - 20:00 CET - Szombathely, Hungary

Pierre-Antoine Gillet is having the best scoring season of his BCL career

● Holon have penned 26-year-old point guard Deondre Burns, who started the season at BG Gottingen and averaged 12 points and 3.1 assists per game in the German easyCredit BBL.

● Holon are 4-0 in their last four games in the BCL Play-Ins, scoring 20+ points in each of the eight quarters they played in this stage last season, against Igokea m:tel.

● Oostende are 3-1 over Holon in the four games in which the two teams have met in the competition previously.

● Oostende, who concluded the Regular Season by winning their last two games, are hoping to win three in a row for the first time since the exact same stage of the 2022-23 season, when they won their last two games of the Regular Season and Game 1 of their Play-In series against Bahcesehir (76-72 on the road).

● Oostende average 77 points per game and score 24.9 percent of those points from the free-throw line, which is the highest ratio in the BCL this season. The Belgian side are third in the league this season in made free-throws, averaging 19.2 per game.

● Holon's Shawn Dawson will be looking to score 15+ points in three consecutive BCL games for the first time in his career. However, the Israeli international ended up on the losing team in each of the six games in which he scored 15 or more points in the competition.

● Oostende's Pierre-Antoine Gillet scored in double digits in each of his six BCL games this season and is averaging a career-high 14.5 points per game. The Belgian international made at least one three-pointer in each of his last 17 BCL games, the longest such run in his BCL career.

Game 1 - 20:30 CET - Le Mans, France

● Promitheas are 1-5 in their last six road games in the BCL with that sole win coming in the most recent game (100-97 at BK Opava). Nine of Promitheas's 11 road games in the BCL were decided by a single-digit margin.

● Promitheas have the best fourth-quarter defense in this season's BCL, giving up only 17.2 points per game in that period.

● The fourth quarter is however Le Mans's most productive, as they are averaging 23.5 points per game in the final frame. Le Mans are in fact the second-best scoring team in the fourth quarter this season, right behind AEK, who score 24.8 fourth-quarter points on average.

● DeVante’ Jones of Le Mans has tallied 38 points over his last two BCL games, after scoring a total of 30 points in his first three games combined. Jones had 5+ assists in each of his first five BCL games and, if he repeats that feat on Wednesday, he will become only the sixth player in BCL history to have posted 5+ assists in each of their first six games in the competition.

● Chris Coffey of Promitheas is averaging 18.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game on the road, compared with 8 points and 5 rebounds per game when playing at home.

Bertram Derthona Tortona v Galatasaray EKMAS

● Galatasaray's current 2-game win streak on the road is their longest ever in the BCL. The Turkish side's precedent against Italian opposition in the BCL is not favorable though, having lost both games against Banco di Sardegna Sassari in the 2020-21 season.

● Galatasaray average 85.5 points per game and score only 33.1 percent of those in the paint, which is fewer than any other team in the BCL this season. On the flip side, 41.7 percent of their converted shots are three-pointers, which is the highest ratio of made three-pointers to made field goals in the league.

● Tortona's TaShawn Thomas is 10 points away from becoming the seventh player in BCL history to reach 800+ career points; Thomas has scored 12 or more points in 10 of his last 11 games at home in the competition.

● Galatasaray's Akwasi Yeboah is one of three players in BCL history to have made 7 or more three-pointers in multiple games (two games). The others are Sasu Salin (5 games) and James Feldeine (3); Yeboah made a total of 19 three-pointers in his six games in the BCL this season after tallying 12 in 14 games last season.
