31 things to look out for in Tuesday's games

MIES (Switzerland) - BCL action is back and the stakes could not be higher!

The Round of 16 resumes on Tuesday with a four-game slate that sees three teams with a chance to punch their ticket to the Quarter-Finals ahead of schedule, and a further three on the brink of dropping out of the qualification race.

Here are 31 things you need to know ahead of Tuesday's four games:

Galatasaray EKMAS (0-3) vs. Telekom Baskets Bonn (3-0)

Group J - 18:00 CET - Istanbul, Turkiye

The more you see of David McCormack., the better it is for Galatasaray, the data shows

● Bonn will secure qualification for the Quarter-Finals if they win this game and Ludwigsburg defeat Dijon in the other game in the group, on Wednesday. Galatasaray will drop out of the race for qualification if they lose this game and Ludwigsburg defeat Dijon.

● Galatasaray have parted ways with Jonah Radebaugh, who averaged 6.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in the BCL.

● Bonn were 89-76 winners in the reverse fixture, on January 23, which was the first ever time the two teams met.

● Galatasaray lost their most recent BCL home game (96-93 to Dijon) but the last time they lost consecutive home games dates back to December 2020-January 2021.

● Bonn have an impressive 9-0 record in their last nine games in the Round of 16 and actually won six of those by a double-digit margin. Interestingly, Bonn won all nine Round of 16 games in which they gave up fewer than 80 points, and lost the two in which they conceded more than 80 points.

● Galatasaray are bottom of the league in points in the paint (percentage-wise), as they only score 34.5 percent of their 84.4 average points in the painted area. On the other hand, they lead the league in three-point shooting as percentage of their total points, as 38.4 percent of their made field goals are behind the arc.

● Galatasaray have lost the three BCL games in which David McCormack played fewer than 21 minutes and won the four BCL games in which he played more than that. McCormack scored 10+ points in each of his last three BCL games, his joint-longest such run in the competition.

● Bonn's Thomas Kennedy had 10 or more points in each of his last three BCL games, after scoring a total of 12 points in his three previous appearances combined. He is averaging 15.3 points and 6.7 rebounds as a starter, after averaging 4 points and 1 rebound in his three games off the bench.

Promitheas Patras (2-1) vs. UCAM Murcia (3-0)

Group L - 18:00 CET - Patras, Greece

Even the best ballhandlers are not safe when Howard Sant-Roos is around, as he is gunning for the title of  the best... thief in BCL history

● Murcia will secure qualification for the Quarter-Finals if they win this game.

● Murcia have signed shooting guard Jonah Radebaugh, who started the season at Galatasaray EKMAS.

● Promitheas are 5-1 in their last six BCL games but that loss was in the reverse fixture in Murcia. The Greek side are 7-2 in their last nine home games in the BCL, but three of the most recent four were decided by a margin of three or fewer points.

● Murcia are on an 8-game winning run in the BCL, their joint-longest in the competition (they had also won eight in a row in the 2018-19 season). They are 3-0 in their last three road games, compared to going 3-7 in their previous 10 road games.

● Murcia are leading the league in defensive rating, as they allow 99.3 points per 100 possessions. In fact, they are the only team this season allowing fewer than 100 points per 100 possessions.

● Anthony Cowan of Promitheas scored 20+ points off the bench in three different BCL games this season, including the reverse fixture. Kasey Shepherd is the only player during the past four BCL seasons to have more such games, with four +20-point games off the bench in the 2020-21 season.

● Murcia's Howard Sant-Roos is chasing David Holston for top spot on the all-time steals list in the BCL. Holston currently has 118 career steals, while Sant-Roos has 103. Sant-Roos also dished out 7 or more assists in each of his last two BCL games. By comparison, he had two +7-assist games in his 48 previous appearances in the competition.

AEK BETSSON BC (0-3) vs. Hapoel Holon (1-2)

Group L - 19:45 CET - Athens, Greece

AEK will need another good scoring game from Chasson Randle if they are to stay alive in the qualification race

● AEK will drop out of the race for qualification if they lose this game.

● Holon have signed 27-year-old power forward Kevin Hervey, who had a great start to the season with UnaHotels Reggio Emilia, averaging 15.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in the Italian Serie A, and 29-year-old winger Tahjere Mccall, who started the season at Australian club Cairns Taipans.

● This will be the fourth encounter in BCL history between AEK and Holon. The Greek side won the very first and the Israeli team won the following two, including the reverse fixture this season (79-68 in January). Holon were leading at half-time in each of those previous three games.

● AEK's current 4-game losing slide is their longest ever in BCL history. AEK, who lost their most recent home game (84-79 to UCAM Murcia), have only lost consecutive home BCL games once, in October 2017, against Estudiantes and Bandirma.

● AEK are one win away from becoming the second club in BCL history (after Lenovo Tenerife) to reach 75 victories in the competition.

● Holon are 3-8 in their last 11 BCL road games, and the four most recent were decided by double-digit margins. Holon scored exactly 61 points in each of their last two road games, after scoring fewer than 65 points in only two of their first 45 road games in the competition.

● AEK's Chasson Randle scored in double digits in each of his last two BCL games and is looking to extend that stretch to three games for the first time in his career. Randle fouled out in two of his last three BCL games, including the reverse fixture.

● Holon's Netanel Artzi scored 16+ points in each of his last two BCL games, after averaging just 4.4 points per game in his first 10 appearances in the competition. He made a combined 7 three-pointers over his last two games, after hitting a combined 4 triples over his first 10 games.

Unicaja (3-0) vs. SIG Strasbourg (0-3)

Group I - 20:30 CET - Malaga, Spain

Tyrus McGee posted the best scoring  display of his last two BCL seasons in the reverse fixture

● Unicaja will secure qualification for the Quarter-Finals if they win this game and Tofas defeat Cholet on Wednesday. Strasbourg will drop out of the qualification race if they lose this game and Tofas defeat Cholet.

● Strasbourg have signed shooting guard Boris Dallo, who started the season at fellow French club ASVEL, and parted ways with Dwaine Brown.

● Unicaja defeated Strasbourg 79-70 in the reverse fixture in France.

● Unicaja are undefeated at home in the BCL this season (four wins in as many games), scoring more than 80 points and allowing fewer than 75 points in each of those four games

● Strasbourg are 0-4 in their four most recent BCL road games, their longest ever losing streak on the road in the competition. They’re allowing 89.6 points per game on the road, their worse defensive performance in their eight-season history in this competition. By comparison, they allowed 78.1 points per game in the 2021-22 season and 77.6 points per game last season.

● Unicaja have the best assists-to-turnover ratio in the BCL this season, dishing out 1.84 assists per turnover. They allow opponents to only come up with 5.2 steals per game, a joint-low this season (alongside Lenovo Tenerife).

● Kendrick Perry led Unicaja in scoring in the reverse fixture with 15 points, as he went 3-of-3 from behind the arc. However, he scored fewer than 10 points in each his last two home games, his first two-game stretch of single-digit scoring at home.

● Strasbourg's Tyrus McGee scored 21 points in the reverse fixture on February 6, which is not his BCL season-high but also his highest scoring tally in a BCL game since the start of last season. If he repeats the feat on Tuesday it will be the first time he scores more than 20 points in consecutive BCL games.
