Team of the Week: Punter, Knight, Neal, Hunter and Dimec

MIES (Switzerland) - Another important Gameday has come and gone in the Basketball Champions League. Now that we have caught our collective breath, let’s take a look at the Team of the Week.

Marcos Knight, Guard

Knight was utterly sensational against Anwil, ending up with a +39 efficiency

MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg have found their Knight in shining armor 😁. On his BCL debut, Knight poured in 27 points, handed out 5 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds as the German club prevailed, 87-74, at Anwil. A Final Four outfit last year, MHP Riesen kept their slim hopes alive of make it to the post-season with a third triumph in 11 games.

Gary Neal, Guard

Sudden impact! Veteran Neal has immediately made Banvit better

Talk about a mid-season acquisition that sparks a team into life, that's the 34-year-old Neal! A man that hit a bunch of big shots in his NBA days, including in the 2013 NBA Finals with the San Antonio Spurs, Neal joined Banvit in December for his second spell in Turkish basketball (he played for Pinar Karsiyaka over a decade ago). On Wednesday evening, in just his third BCL game, Neal scored 21 points to lead the Bandirma outfit to a 75-72 win at Nizhny Novgorod, a victory that clinched a spot in the Play-Offs.

Kevin Punter, Guard

Been there, done that. You know what we’re saying, right? Punter has been a part of the fabulous five (aka Team of the Week) before. He's always making big plays and scoring a lot of points. The sweet-shooting 25-year-old guard on Wednesday night drilled 5 of 9 from deep and finished with 22 points and 5 assists in a 93-83 victory at medi Bayreuth, a result that punched the Italian team’s ticket to the Play-Offs.

Vince Hunter, Forward

High fives all around for AEK's MVP so far this season, Hunter

Hunter is a regular when it comes to weekly awards in the BCL so it’s not surprising that he’s in the quintessential quintet again. The AEK big man hardly put a foot wrong in leading the defending champions to an 80-56 victory in Greece over JDA Dijon. Hunter made 9 of 10 shots fro the floor, hauled in 9 rebounds and came up with a steal in just 20 minutes! He ended up with a +30 efficiency.

Ziga Dimec, Center

Lietkabelis center Dimec set the tone for the Lithuanian club in their win over Brose Bamberg

Dimec played like the European champion that he is on Wednesday evening for Lietkabelis in their impressive 84-67 home triumph over Brose Bamberg. The home side fed him the ball early and often and he made the most of the opportunities, finishing with 16 points on 5 of 6 shooting from the floor and with makes on all 6 of his free-throws. Dimec, a FIBA EuroBasket 2017 winner with Slovenia, had 5 rebounds, 2 blocks and a steal.
