Week 8 Thursday game preview

MIES (Switzerland) - Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem take on Igokea in the sole game that takes place on Christmas eve and could prove pivotal to how the Group G standings shape out.

The Jerusalem side are the nominal hosts although the game takes place in Laktasi following an agreement between the two clubs, as a way to limit travel due to the conditions caused by the pandemic.

Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem (1-2) vs. Igokea (2-1) -- Group G, 20:00 CET

  • Igokea defeated Hapoel Jerusalem 75-73 in the Tuesday game led by Marko Josilo's 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 steals in what was the first ever matchup between the two teams in the BCL.

  • If Igokea win on Thursday, they will become only the third team to have logged multiple wins over Hapoel Jerusalem in the BCL, after AEK and San Pablo Burgos. The Greek and the Israeli team have two wins apiece against the Israeli club.

  • Hapoel Jerusalem, who are the nominal hosts on Thursday, are undefeated in their last 14 home games in the BCL. Jerusalem's streak is the second longest in the competition after Monaco's, who enjoyed a 17-game winning streak at home.

  • Hapoel Jerusalem average 89.3 points per game at home, which is an all-time high among teams with more than 10 home games in the BCL.

  • Hapoel Jerusalem are scoring 42 points in the paint per game on average, as joint league leaders (alongside Dinamo Sassari) in this aspect.

  • Igokea's opponents dish 15.7 assists per game on average, which puts the Bosnian team's defense in second place in this aspect behind Brose Bamberg, who only allow opponents to dish 14.5 assists per game.

  • Hapoel Jerusalem's J’Covan Brown has 698 BCL career points and TaShawn Thomas has 684 career points, so on Thursday they both have the chance to join Vojtech Hruban and Kevin Punter as the only players to have crossed the 700-point mark in BCL history.

  • Furthermore, Thomas has 297 career rebounds and is 3 boards shy of becoming the first player to reach 300 career rebounds in the BCL.
