20 things to look out for in Wednesday's games

MIES (Switzerland) - The curtain falls on the Round of 16 on Wednesday and the four-game slate will determine first place in Group J and pretty much everything in Group L.

To see what each team needs to do in order to qualify for the Quarter-Finals, check out the detailed analysis.

Here are 20 things you need to know ahead of the four games on Wednesday:

AEK BETSSON BC (0-5) vs. Promitheas Patras (3-2)

Group L - 18:30 CET - Athens, Greece

This will be the last BCL game of the season for Mindaugas Kuzminskas, but he's had a  spectacular stretch lately

● AEK have won just one of their three games against other Greek teams in the BCL. However, two of those defeats, including the one to Promitheas in the reverse fixture in Patras (80-79), were by a 1-point margin.

● AEK's current six-game losing skid in the BCL is by far their longest ever in the competition (the previous longest was three losses in a row). They gave up 100 or more points in each of their last two games, something that had happened in only one of their first 119 BCL games, in a game against Umana Reyer Venezia in October 2017.

● Three of Promitheas's last five BCL games were decided by exactly 1 point, with Promitheas winning two of them, including the reverse fixture against AEK. Promitheas, who scored 92 points in their most recent game against Hapoel Holon, have never scored 85 or more points in back-to-back BCL games.

● AEK's Mindaugas Kuzminskas scored 16 or more points in each of his last four BCL games. By comparison, he had two +16-point games in his previous 12 appearances in the competition. The Lithuanian forward shot an excellent 46.7 percent (7 of 15) from 3-point range over his last two games.

● Anthony Cowan of Promitheas has scored a total of 237 points over his first 12 BCL games, the 5th-highest tally by any player over his first dozen BCL games, and the absolute highest since the format changed to a six-game Regular Season, in 2020-21. Cowan is the only player to have scored 30+ points in multiple games this season (two games).

Hapoel Holon (3-2) vs. UCAM Murcia (4-1)

Group L - 18:30 CET - Szombathely, Hungary

Kevin Hervey has introduced himself in the BCL with a bang, and his only pending assignment is to finish a game without fouling out

● Murcia are undefeated against Hapoel Holon in the BCL, having won all three of their previous encounters. Murcia scored 78 or more points in each of those three games, and have always kept Holon below 76 points.

● If Holon win on Wednesday, they will put together their first three-game winning streak in the BCL this season. Holon, who scored more than 90 points in each of their last two games, have an amazing 9-1 record in the last 10 BCL games in which they scored 90 or more.

● Murcia are 9-1 in their last 10 BCL games but the sole defeat in that span came in their most recent road game (79-78 at Promitheas Patras). Alongside Unicaja, they are the only two Round of 16 teams to have not given up 90 points in any game this season.

● Holon's Kevin Hervey has made a splash in his BCL debut, averaging 17 points and 7 rebounds over his first three BCL games. However, he fouled out in all three.

● Murcia's Jonah Radebaugh has a BCL career-high 31 points in last week's game against AEK. However, he's never score 20 or more points in consecutive BCL games. Radebaugh made two or more 3-pointers in each of his three games against with Holon.

JDA Bourgogne Dijon (1-4) vs. Galatasaray EKMAS (2-3)

Group J - 20:30 CET - Dijon, France

Gregor Hrovat is 4 steals away from becoming the third player in BCL history to reach 100 steals

● Dijon and Galatasaray have met three times in the BCL, with Dijon winning all three encounters, despite the fact they were trailing Galatasaray at the end of the third quarter each time. Dijon scored 75 or more points in each of those three games.

● Dijon's current three-game losing skid is their second longest in the BCL since the 2018-19 season, when they went through a stretch of six defeats in a row. They are 0-3 in their last three Round of 16 games at home, after going 5-2 in their previous seven.

● Galatasaray's current 2-game winning streak is their first ever in the Round of 16 stage. They had won 3 of their previous 15 games in the Round of 16, but never two in a row. However, they are 0-8 in their eight road games in the Round of 16, and allowed 80 or more points in six of those.

● Dijon's Gregor Hrovat is 4 steals away from becoming the third player to reach 100 steals in BCL history, following David Holston and Howard Sant-Roos. The Slovenian guard, who scored 15 points last week against Bonn, last scored 15 or more points in consecutive BCL games in January 2023.

● David McCormack has scored in double figures in eight of nine BCL games since he joined Galatasaray, including each of his last five, which is his longest such stretch. McCormack scored a BCL career-high 21 points in the reverse fixture against Dijon.

MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg (5-0) vs. Telekom Baskets Bonn (2-3)

Group J - 20:30 CET - Ludwigsburg, Germany

Jayvon Graves has the chance to tie last year's MVP for most 20-point games in a single BCL season

● Ludwigsburg have two defeats in as many BCL games against another German team in the BCL, with their opponents scoring exactly 86 points in each of them. They are coming off a 93-91 loss to Galatasaray, but are yet to lose consecutive games this BCL season.

● Bonn are 1-2 in their last road games in the BCL, after going a perfect 10-0 in their previous 10 (this of course includes their run to the title last season). Bonn have scored 85+ points in three of their five road games this season.

● Ludwigsburg (5.6) and Bonn have the best perimeter defenses in this season's BCL, allowing opponents to make only 5.6 and 6.2 three-pointers per game, respectively. Neither of the two German teams has given up more than 10 three-pointers in any game this season.

● Ludwigsburg’s Jayvon Graves has scored 20 or more points in nine games this season and if he repeats that feat on Wednesday he will tie TJ Shorts II, who is the only players with 10 20-point games in a single BCL season. The only time though that Graves went scoreless in a BCL game was the reverse fixture against Bonn.

● Bonn's Harald Frey has dished out 6 or more assists in four of his last five BCL games, after tallying that many in only one of his previous five. Frey posted his second BCL career double-double last week, with 10 points and 10 assists in the 89-74 win over Dijon, without committing even a single turnover.
