AEK BC 87-84 Asisa Joventut (1-0)
The ComebAEK Kings do it again! AEK BC trailed by 13 at the half, as Asisa Joventut played a sensational game without Ante Tomic and Simon Birgander, their first two options at center.
However, after the break, Frank Bartley took over to erase the gap in the third quarter, while James Nunnally had all the clutch moves late in the game to give The Queen the lead for good and seal the deal.
Joventut had a chance to retake the lead in the final minute, but RaiQuan Gray's defense on Cameron Hunt pushed them into a tougher shot, allowing AEK to ice the game from the charity stripe.
Rytas Vilnius 77-70 ERA Nymburk (1-0)
The Lithuanian juggernauts had a comeback of their own, as they trailed by seven points against the Czech champions.
ERA Nymburk have been a tough team on the road all season long, but once Speedy Smith started pulling all the strings on Rytas' offense, the lead evaporated and turned into a game of cat and mouse.
That's when Jerrick Harding decided to have no mercy against his former club. The party in Vilnius started with his clutch three-pointer pushing the lead to +7, setting off the fireworks in the stands - quite literally, too.
A total of 8,037 fans gave the home team a standing ovation as they left the court. Expect a number of them to be present in Czechia for Game 2, too.
Unicaja 72-69 ALBA BERLIN (1-0)
For the 14th time in their history, and the first time since 2019, Unicaja took on ALBA BERLIN, this time in Malaga.
A big 11-0 run saw the hosts erase an early gap and claim a 34-29 lead at the break, powered by Justin Cobbs' 10 first half points.
It was Cobbs' three-pointer late in the third quarter which opened up the first double digit lead of the game, but Jack Kayil made it a seven-point game with ten to play.
The 20-year-old rising star was on fire in the fourth quarter, too, pulling ALBA within one possession in the final minute of the game. However, Kendrick Perry found Alberto Diaz for the clutch three-pointer to put it out of reach.
La Laguna Tenerife 84-83 Galatasaray MCT Technic
The last game of the day tipped off at 21:00 CET, at a perfect time for Patty Mills to provide the continent with some late night highlights.
Coming off the bench in the first quarter, the Australian legend stormed to a quick seven points, handing La Laguna Tenerife a 23-15 lead after one.
However, coach Gianmarco Pozzecco found an answer in the second quarter, as Galatasaray hit 5-of-9 from deep in Q2 to take a 41-40 lead at the half.
But the problem with Txus Vidorreta's lineup is that they are so disciplined and experienced and hardly rattled. They just kept doing their thing, opening a 64-56 lead with ten minutes on the game clock.
The lead ballooned to 80-63 with five minutes to play, but that's when Errick McCollum decided to make it interesting. The shooting guard kept scoring at will, setting up the stage for Jerome Robinson to make it 84-83 inside the last 10 seconds.
Tim Abromaitis missed both shots from the free throw line with five to play, James Palmer Jr grabbed the ball and went the other way, but his right corner three-pointer at the buzzer did not fall. Tenerife won the game, 1-0 in the series as it moves to Istanbul next week.
