Week 10 standout performances

MIES (Switzerland) - There is precious little time left in the 2020-21 Basketball Champions League Regular Season and the sense of urgency was apparent in the host of bright individual displays we witnessed in the nine games that took place in Week 10.

We have picked out three players who this week helped their respective teams advance to the Play-Offs and two that brought their teams one step of qualifying, in Tarik Phillip of Tofas Bursa, D'Angelo Harrison of Happy Casa Brindisi, Bonzie Colson of SIG Strasbourg, Sam Dekker of Türk Telekom and Raymar Morgan of Pinar Karsiyaka.

Let's have a closer look at these five players' performances and the impact they had on their teams' success in Week 10.

Tarik Phillip feeling like himself at Tofas

There is a reason why Tofas Bursa were eager to bring back Tarik Phillip when the American guard parted ways with Hapoel Jerusalem in November, and that reason became apparent on Tuesday night.

Phillip led Tofas to a huge 90-61 road win at JDA Dijon, certainly the Turkish team's biggest victory since they joined the BCL, which bolsters their hopes of clinching a Play-Offs spot.

The 27-year-old guard collected a BCL career-high 20 points and added 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals for an efficiency rating of 31, which is also a career-best in the competition. Philip became the first player with at least 20 points, 5 boards, 5 assists and 2 steals in a BCL road game in the 2020-21 season.

Another week, another stellar Harrison display

It has almost become routine to see D'Angelo Harrison on the list of standout performances week in and week out, but on Wednesday the league-leading scorer gave us two new reasons for his display to stand out:

The most important is that Harrison's 24 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists propelled Happy Casa Brindisi to a an 87-83 win at Darüssafaka Tekfen that earned the Italian team their maiden trip to the BCL Play-Offs. Second, this time around he put together a big scoring game even after missing his first six shots from the floor, as if to showcase he is a cold-blooded scorer that never loses focus.

Harrison, who leads the league in scoring with 22.2 points per game, is the first player in a year (since January 2020) to string together four consecutive games of 20 or more points.

Bonzie Colson sees (Stasbourg) red against VEF Riga

Bonzie Colson did not endear himself to VEF Riga fans in October, when he nailed a buzzer-beating triple for SIG Strasbourg to topple their team 77-75 at the death but on Wednesday, when the French team played host to VEF, he went one step further.

The American swingman drilled a three-pointer 8 seconds from the end of regulation to force first overtime and finished with 31 points, 7 boards, 4 steals and an efficiency rating of 30 to pave the way for Strasbourg's 101-94 victory in double overtime.

The result means Strasbourg have secured first place in the group with a game to spare and that Colson has become only the second player to collect at least 30 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals in a single BCL game this season.

Sam Dekker stars in Turk Telekom's Mission Impossible

It would take a lot for any team to travel to Israel and snap Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem's 15-game winning streak at home in the BCL, and it would become akin to an impossible mission if said team trailed Hapoel by 19 points just before the interval.

Fortunately for Turk Telekom though, Sam Dekker must be a big fan of the Mission Impossible franchise. The 26-year-old American forward stayed on the floor for the entire 40 minutes on Wednesday night, as the Turkish team needed him to inspire an unlikely 78-77 comeback victory at Hapoel.

Dekker delivered his best performance in the competition so far, scoring 20 points on 8 of 16 shooting from the field and adding 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block for a BCL career-high efficiency rating of 22.

Raymar Morgan delivers a lesson in efficiency

Pinar Karsiyaka hold their fate in their own hands heading into the final day of action in Group G as they wll miss out on the Play-Offs only if they lose to RETAbet Bilbao at home by 10 or more points.

But as long as Raymar Morgan continues to perform as efficiently as he did on Tuesday night, when he paved the way for Karsiyaka's 78-65 win at Fortitudo Bologna, it's difficult to see how the Turkish team could suffer such a catastrophic defeat.

The Karsiyaka big man needed only 24 minutes and 19 seconds of playing time to collect 22 points on a nearly perfect 10 of 12 shooting from the floor and added 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal and tie his BCL season-high efficiency rating of 30.

Morgan became only the second player this season, after ERA Nymburk's Retin Obasohan, to collect at least 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in less than 25 minutes on the court.
