Everything you need to know ahead of Wednesday’s Gameday 3 fixtures

MIES (Switzerland) - Wednesday action includes tough tests for five teams who came into the third week undefeated and features an eagerly-anticipated Group B clash, as Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem play host to RASTA Vechta

Let’s have a closer look at some very interesting facts and figures as we head into the eight Wednesday games:

Lietkabelis (0-2) v Turk Telekom (2-0) -- Group A, 18:00 CET

Death, taxes and Zeljiko Sakic scoring in double digits in a BCL game are all facts of life

  • Lithuanian teams have won three of their previous four home encounters against Turkish sides in the Basketball Champions League, with the only exception being an 82-76 Pinar Karsiyaka win against Juventus Utena in December 2017.

  • Turk Telekom have won their first two games this season, but only two Turkish sides have previously managed to win their first three games of a BCL season, Teksut Bandirma and Besiktas Sompo Sigorta, both in 2016-17.

  • Lietkabelis made less than 30 percent of their 3-point attempts in their last three home games in the BCL, after converting more than 40 percent of their 3-pointers in each of their first four home games.

  • Zeljko Sakic of Lietkabelis has scored less than 10 points only once in the 13 BCL games in which he played at least 20 minutes. The only exception was an 8-point game, when he played for Cibona, against Filou Oostende in January 2017.

AEK (1-1) v Telenet Giants Antwerp (1-1) -- Group B, 18:00 CET

Luka Rupnik already went up against AEK last season, when he was playing for Fuenlabrada

  • AEK have won their previous two games against Telenet Giants Antwerp in the BCL, during the 2018-19 season.

  • AEK have won their last seven home games in the BCL Regular Season, their best winning run at home in the competition.
  • Antwerp have won only one of their last seven away games in the Regular Season, 80-61 against JDA Dijon in November 2018.

  • Keith Langford of AEK has scored exactly 27 points in each of his first two games in the BCL. No player has ever scored 27+ points in three consecutive BCL games.

  • Antwerp’s Luka Rupnik has scored at least 10 points in five of his last six BCL games, after doing it only three times in his first 10 games. He has already played twice against AEK in the BCL, with Montakit Fuenlabrada last season, averaging 10 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists per game.

Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem (2-0) v RASTA Vechta (2-0) -- Group B, 18:00 CET

The last time Jarelle Reischel played against a team from Israel he scored his BCL career-high

  • Hapoel Jerusalem have lost only one of their 10 home games in the BCL and in seven of those nine home wins they prevailed with a margin of 14 points or more.

  • RASTA Vechta are looking to become the second German team to win their first three games of a BCL season, after medi Bayreuth in 2017-18.

  • Hapoel Jerusalem have scored less than 10 three-pointers in their last five games in the BCL, after making more than 10 shots from behind the arc in each of their previous seven games.

  • Tamir Blatt of Hapoel Jerusalem has averaged 3.5 assists in the first two BCL games this season, but he averaged 6.9 assists last year as the third-best passer during the Regular Season.

  • RASTA Vechta’s Jarelle Reischel has played in 16  games in he competition and scored his BCL career-high against an Israeli team, albeit it was Hapoel Holon and not Hapoel Jerusalem. He had 15 points against UNET Holon when he was playing for Telekom Baskets Bonn at the end of last season.

Gaziantep (0-2) v Brose Bamberg (0-2) -- Group B, 18:00 CET

Drew Crawford is averaging 18 points after the first two weeks of the season

  • Gaziantep have only won two of their last 14 games in the BCL, losing the last four. They have lost the previous two games they played against a German team in the competition (against Ludwigsburg in 2017-18).

  • Bamberg have lost their last five games in the BCL, as many defeats as in their first 17 games in the competition. Each of their last four games finished on a margin of at least 14 points.

  • Bamberg have scored less than 60 points in three of their last four BCL games, something which never happened to them in their first 18 games in the competition.

  • Drew Crawford of Gaziantep has scored at least 14 points in each of his last four BCL games (17 points on average), after never scoring more than 12 points in his first 11 appearances in the competition (6.9 points on average).

  • Bamberg’s Louis Olinde has grabbed at least 5 rebounds in each of his last four BCL games (7 rebounds on average).

VEF Riga (1-1) v ERA Nymburk (2-0) -- Group C, 18:30 CET

Ron Curry has more of a scoring role at  Riga than he had at Bonn

  • Riga have scored at least 80 points in each of their first two games (80 against Mornar Bar and 83 against Peristeri) but no Latvian team has ever scored more than 80 points in three consecutive games in the competition.

  • Nymburk have won two games in a row in the BCL for the first time since January-March 2018, when they had four wins in a row. The Czech champions have never won their first three games of a BCL season.

  • Nymburk have grabbed more than 40 rebounds in each of their last three games in the BCL. That happened only twice in their previous 11 games in the competition.

  • Ron Curry has scored at least 10 points in each of his two BCL games with Riga after never scoring in double digits in his 10  games with Telekom Baskets Bonn.

  • Zach Hankins of Nymburk has registered a double-double in each of his first two games in the BCL. No player has so far managed to post a double-double in his first three games in the competition.

Dinamo Sassari (1-1) v Filou Oostende (1-1) -- Group A, 20:30 CET

Oostende's Shevon Thompson is coming off a monster double-double display on Gameday 2

  • Sassari have won their last three home games in the BCL after having lost five of their previous six.

  • Both of Oostende’s last two BCL games finished on a double-digit margin (the Belgian team won one, lost one). This had only happened twice in their previous 12 games in the competition.

  • Sassari have made 92 percent (23 of 25) of their free-throws so far, and are the only team to have converted more than 90 percent of their free-throw attempts this season.

  • Dyshawn Pierre of Sassari posted a double-double in two of his last three home games in the BCL, after never registering one in his first five.

  • Oostende’s Shevon Thompson had 22 points and 17 rebounds against UNET Holon on Gameday 2, becoming the third player to score at least 20 points and grab at least 15 rebounds in a BCL game. Thompson is nonetheless the only one to achieve that feat while spending less than 30 minutes on the court.

Casademont Zaragoza (1-1) v Falco Szombathely (1-1) -- Group D, 20:30 CET

Quinton Hooker's scoring displays so far have been as consistent as a metronome

  • This will be Zaragoza's first home game in the BCL. All other six Spanish teams have won their first home game in the competition.

  • Hungarian teams have lost all eight games they have played on the road in the BCL (Szolnoki Olaj has seven defeats, Falco one).

  • Zaragoza have only come up with six steals in this BCL season, fewer than any other team.

  • Rodrigo San Miguel of Zaragoza has lost six of the last eight games he played as a starter in the BCL, but he has won the last 10 games while coming from the bench in the competition.

  • Quinton Hooker had 10 points against JDA Dijon and 10 points against PAOK, and he is the only Falco player to have scored in double digits in each of their first two games.

JDA Dijon (2-0) v Happy Casa Brindisi (1-1) -- Group D, 20:30 CET

Can Week 2 MVP Adrian Banks become the first player to score 30 points in consecutive games?

  • Dijon have won their last two games in the BCL, their best streak in the competition, after losing 10 of their previous 13 games.

  • Italian teams have won two of their last three away games played in France in the Regular Season, after having lost their first seven.

  • Dijon have averaged seven offensive rebounds in the first two games, less than any other team this season.

  • David Holston has scored at least 20 points in four of his last five home games with Dijon in the BCL, the only exception being the six points he scored against Falco Szombathely on Gameday 1.

  • Brindisi’s Adrian Banks scored 31 points in his last game against Telekom Baskets Bonn, the most for a player in a BCL game this season. No player has ever scored more than 30 points in consecutive games in the competition.
