SAMOKOV (Bulgaria) - Following the Semi-Finals in QRT3, Monday's action in Samokov featured two crazy and eventful Quarter-Finals in the Basketball Champions League Qualification Round Tournament 1, with one Danish team and one Dutch side advancing.
Let's find out how Bakken Bears Aarhus and Heroes Den Bosch made their way through, coming a step closer to dates with AEK, VEF Riga and NHSZ-Szolnoki Olajbanyasz in Group F.
Bakken Bears Aarhus 84-81 BC Kutaisi 2010
Some basketball games are crazy, and this thriller was no exception.
Bakken Bears were leading by 16 points (48-32) with two minutes to go before halftime. They were leading by 8 points (63-55) with three minutes to go in the third.
They were down by 4 points (76-80) with two minutes left. That's how close BC Kutaisi 2010 went to what would have been a crazy comeback in the making. However, the Danish team still advanced.
In order to beat the Georgians, Skyler Bowlin's team needed everybody to step up, and five players on the Bakken Bears' roster finished in double-digits.
Jordan Ogundiran and Darko Jukic finished with 16 points each.
On the green-and-white side, it was mostly a three-headed monster performance, with Detrek Browning (27 points and 7 rebounds), Tyree Boykin (21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists), and Javion Ogunyemi (10 points and 8 rebounds) stepping up.
Heroes Den Bosch 80-68 Trepca
In a similar fashion to what was done by PAOK mateco fans, Trepca had unbelievable support from the stands in Samokov to dream about a Kosovar team making their way to the BCL Regular Season.
Instead, after a hot 15-0 run in the first quarter, the green-and-black side was quickly reached and overcome by Den Bosch, who ultimately won 80-68, outscoring their opponents 32-18 in points from the paint.
Kerwin Walton and Keevan Veinot combined for 27 points in the Dutch team's victory. Menno Dijkstra scored 13 points off the bench over a perfect 5-of-5 shooting night from the field.
JaCori Payne concluded with 15 points and 5 assists in Trepca's defeat, while Chad Brown had a solid performance at the glass, ending in a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Semi-Final picture is now completed in QRT1, as on Tuesday, Kalev/Cramo will face Patrioti Levice at 17:45 CET, while Bakken Bears will go up against Den Bosch later on at 20:00 CET.
