    Team and Event Management: Teams are formed and registered for professional and grassroots competitions and events;

    Travel and Insurance: Efficient travel arrangements and comprehensive insurance management are provided to ensure players are well-supported logistically and protected against injuries and unforeseen events during competitions;

    Registration and Eligibility: The registration and eligibility process for the Basketball Champions League is managed to ensure compliance with the sport’s rules and international transfer disputes are resolved to maintain fairness and order;

    Anti-Doping Measures: Anti-doping efforts include selecting players for testing, managing whereabouts for out-of-competition tests, processing biological samples, and handling Therapeutic Use Exemptions, with a commitment to transparency through the publication of sanctions to promote fair play.

    Travel and Insurance: Efficient travel arrangements and comprehensive insurance management are provided to ensure match officials are well-supported logistically and protected against injuries and unforeseen events during competitions.

    Financial Management: To handle payments, billing activities, and other related financial transactions for services rendered by match officials.

    Preparation and Performance Management: To support a preparation program and manage the performance of match officials, aiming to maintain and improve officiating quality.

    Fan Account Management and Support: To manage your account and any membership you hold with us, and to respond to your inquiries and feedback.

    The processing of Personal Data by Event Hosts is not subject to the provisions of this Privacy Policy. Event Hosts will have their own Privacy Policy to describe how they handle your Personal Data. When you purchase tickets to an event, you should read and become familiar with the privacy policies of the Event Host.

    We have no control over the use of your Personal Data by any Event Host, and you agree that we are not liable for any use of your Personal Data by an Event Host. If you have special preferences concerning use of your Personal Data by an Event Host, you must communicate those preferences directly to that Event Host.

    What gives us the right to process your data?

    Depending on the purpose of the processing, the use of your Personal Data is premised on the following legal bases:

    We may share your Personal Data to fulfill the purposes set out above with select third parties, including:

    • Event and competition organisers;

    • National Federations;

    • Media, technology, and business partners;

    • Service providers (e.g. IT providers or outsourcing partners);

    • World-Anti Doping Agency (WADA) and medical experts;

    • Professional advisors (lawyers, accountants, consultants);

    • Local and national authorities, offices, courts.

    We ensure that all sharing of Personal Data is conducted in compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations, and we take reasonable steps to ensure that all third parties respect the confidentiality and security of the data shared with them.

    Where does your data go?

    The Personal Data we collect about you is generally stored and processed by us within Switzerland, the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA). Should it be necessary to transfer your Personal Data to a country outside of this area, we can only do so if this is necessary for the data processing described in this Privacy Policy and is in accordance with the applicable data protection laws and regulations. Where we transfer your Personal Data outside Switzerland, the EU or EEA, we will ensure that it is protected in a manner that is consistent with how your Personal Data will be protected by us in Switzerland. This can be done in several ways, for instance:

    • The country that we send the data to might be approved by European Commission and the Federal Council as offering a sufficient level of data protection;

    • The recipient signed up to a contract based on the “Standard Contractual Clauses” drafted by the European Commission and recognized by the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) and adjusted to the Swiss data protection regulation, if needed;

Before giving your consent, you will be informed about the possible risks of such transfers for you due to the absence of an adequacy decision and appropriate safeguards.     In other circumstances the law may permit us to otherwise transfer your Personal Data outside Switzerland, the EU or EEA. In all cases, however, we will ensure that any transfer of your Personal Data is compliant with applicable data protection laws and regulations.     BCL has taken technical and organizational measures to ensure the security of your Personal Data and to protect it from unauthorized or unlawful processing, accidental loss, alteration, disclosure, or access. These measures are based on international standards and are regularly reviewed and adjusted if necessary.

    If you communicate with BCL by e-mail, through our social media platform, or through other communication internet channels, you should note that the secrecy of internet is uncertain. By sending sensitive or confidential messages or information which are not encrypted you accept the risk of such uncertainty and possible lack of confidentiality over the Internet. In certain areas, BCL uses industry standard SSL encryption to protect data transmissions.

    Your rights

    If and insofar as this is provided for under applicable data protection law, you have the following privacy rights. You may contact us at privacy@fiba.basketball to exercise your rights to:

    • Request access to your Personal Data (commonly known as a “data subject access request”). This enables you to receive a copy of the Personal Data we hold about you, find out how we are using it, who we are sharing it with, and where we got your data from. Request corrections of the Personal Data that we hold about you (right to rectification). This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate data we hold about you corrected, though we may need to verify the accuracy of any new data you provide to us;

    • Request erasure of your Personal Data (right to erasure). This enables you to ask us to delete or remove Personal Data where there is no good reason for us to continue to process it.. Note, however, that we may not always be able to comply with your request of erasure for specific legal reasons of which we will notify you, if applicable, at the time of your request;

    • Object to processing of your Personal Data where we are relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party), and you object to this processing as you feel it impacts your fundamental rights and freedoms (right to objection). You may also object to our processing your Personal Data for direct marketing purposes. In some cases, we may deny your objection if we can demonstrate that we have compelling legitimate grounds to process your information which override your rights and freedoms;

    • Request restriction of processing of your Personal Data (right to restriction) in certain circumstances.     • Should BCL make an automated individual decision which may have a legal effect for you, you may have the right to speak with a representative of FIBA and to request a reconsideration of that decision;

    • Make a complaint to a regulator. You have the right to make a complaint at any time to your local supervisory authority about data protection issues. We would, however, appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns before you approach any supervisory authority, so please contact us in the first instance.

    The policy towards children

    We do not knowingly collect any information from any minors, and we comply with all applicable privacy laws and regulations for collecting Personal Data from minors. If you have concerns about this Website or its Services, believe that your child under 13 has gained access to our Website without your permission, or wish to remove your child’s Personal Data from our servers, please contact us at privacy@fiba.basketball.

    Our Website will not knowingly accept Personal Data from anyone under 13 years old without consent of a parent or guardian. In the event that we discover that a child under the age of 13 has provided Personal Data to us, we will make efforts to delete the child’s information.
