ATHENS (Greece) - The 2025 Basketball Champions League Final Four, powered by SUNEL finished on Sunday, with Unicaja edging out Galatasaray in the Final at the SUNEL Arena in Athens.
The defending champions took the lead early in the first quarter, and did not look back the rest of the way, claiming an 83-67 win. It was the largest points differential of all nine BCL Finals to date.
With this win, Unicaja joined Hereda San Pablo Burgos, as the only other club which managed to defend their title in the following season.
Overall, the two-time champions had a near perfect season in the BCL, winning 15 of their 16 games played this season, losing only to finalists Galatasaray, back in the Round of 16.
Unicaja also had the Most Valuable Player of the Final Four. Tyson Carter made all the difference with his defense in the Semi-Finals, stealing the ball five times while having the task of guarding AEK Betsson BC's top scorer Hunter Hale.
In the Final, Carter changed the game with his offense, scoring 14 points and dishing out 5 assists in less than 19 minutes of action. The first man to congratulate him was his teammate Kendrick Perry, last season's Final Four MVP.
In the Third Place Game, the hosts AEK Betsson BC came back from -17 to defeat La Laguna Tenerife 77-73 and finish on the podium.
AEK and Tenerife are the only two teams in BCL history with first, second and third-place finishes to their names.
