Sabah BC vs. Elan Chalon - Group B, 17:00 CET
Sabah BC have lost their three games in the BCL and are yet to win a first or a second quarter in the competition. In fact, they have only won two of their 12 quarters played (17%).
Elan Chalon have won their last four games in the BCL, including an 84-71 success over Sabah in the last Gameday, their best winning run in the competition. They have won their first two road games this season, already as many away wins as in their previous season (W2 L5 away from home in 2017-18).
Sabah are one of only four teams in this BCL season not to have used any player born in the 21st century — and interestingly, also the only team without a player in their thirties.
Jean-Marc Pansa is the only Sabah player to have scored 10+ points in each of the first three gamedays in the BCL this season, despite starting all games on the bench. In fact, he has scored 10+ points in as many games this season as he had in his first 23 BCL appearances combined (3).
Chalon’s Clarence Nadolny has combined for 10+ points and 5+ assists in each of his first three games in the BCL while coming off the bench in each of those; if he does it again against Sabah, he will be the first player in BCL history to do it in his first four league appearances, while coming off the bench.
Sabah stayed perfect on top of the Azeri League standings with a 5-0 record following their 103-96 win against Neftchi BC away from home, as Hassani Gravett had a masterful night with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists; Chalon won as well, beating JDA Dijon 90-74 at home with Zac Cuthbertson scoring 18 points.
Mersin Sports Club vs. Unicaja - Group G, 18:00 CET
Mersin Sports Club have won their last two BCL games but lost on Gameday 1 against Unicaja (66-97), a game where they lost all four quarters.
Unicaja have won 12 of their last 13 road games in the BCL, including the last five; in fact, they have won 12 of their last 13 quarters played away from home in the Regular Season.
45.7 percent of the points conceded by Mersin in the BCL this season came from three-point range, more than any other team; only two teams have scored a higher share of their total points from behind the arc than Unicaja this term (38.7%), and they are making the joint-most 3-pointers per game (11.7 – also Tenerife).
Gabriel Olaseni has scored more than 16 points in 11 of his 40 games played in the BCL, including in his most recent two with Mersin; Olaseni has been on the winning side in each of his last four BCL games with more than 16 points scored.
Kendrick Perry (Unicaja) scored 22 points in his most recent BCL game (vs. Filou Oostende) but has never scored 20+ points in back-to-back games in his 62 appearances in the competition; Perry has scored in double figures in 11 of his last 13 games in the BCL, but the two exceptions on that span happened on the road (7pts vs. Rytas last season & 7pts vs. Karditsas this term).
Facing Galatasaray MCT Technic in the Turkish derby between BCL participants, Mersin suffered the 85-79 road defeat despite Justin Cobbs scoring 25 points; Unicaja didn't have the best of weekends in Spain either, losing 98-74 on the road to MoraBanc Andorra with Chris Duarte's losing effort of 17 points and 5 assists.
ERA Nymburk vs. ALBA BERLIN - Group B, 18:30 CET
ERA Nymburk have alternated between wins and defeats in their last eight home games in the BCL, losing the most recent one (95-97 vs. Chalon); however, Nymburk have only lost three of their last 17 home games with Oren Amiel at the helm in the BCL.
ALBA BERLIN have won their last two games in the BCL, including their only previous road game (85-76 at Sabah); they were leading at halftime in each of their three games in the competition.
ALBA are making 62.3 percent of their two-pointers in the BCL this season, the best accuracy among all teams, while Nymburk are the team attempting the most two-pointers (44.3 per game). ALBA are also averaging the joint-most points in the paint (41.3 – also Chalon).
Vojtech Hruban (Nymburk) has a total of 381 rebounds in the BCL and needs two more rebounds to overtake Miro Bilan (382) and reach the fourth spot on the all-time rebounders list; Hruban has scored in single digits in each of his last three BCL games but hasn’t endured in a longer run since January–March 2018 (5 games).
Martin Hermannsson scored 14 points in the reverse fixture against Nymburk, his highest scoring game in the BCL and also his first appearance as a starter; the Icelandic has dished out 5+ assists in each of his three BCL games played.
The Icelandic point guard also recorded a double-double of 19 points and 10 assists in ALBA's 88-80 domestic win against Syntainics MBC; Nymburk extended their winning streak to 10 straight games in the Czech League with the 87-83 road win over Usti Nad Labem.
AEK BC vs. VEF Riga - Group F, 18:30 CET
AEK BC have won their last nine home games played in the BCL Regular Season, by an average margin of 15.4 points and scoring 80+ points in the most recent eight. They have only lost four of their last 25 quarters played at home in the Regular Season (W20 D1).
VEF Riga have lost their last 18 road games in the BCL, but the most recent two saw a final margin of three points or fewer. They have allowed 80+ points in each of their four trips to Greece but won one of those games (84-81 at Peristeri in November 2020).
Only Unicaja (0.92) are conceding fewer points per possession on average than AEK (0.94) in the BCL this season; on the other side, Riga are averaging the fewest points scored per possession this term (0.95).
RaiQuan Gray (AEK) has scored exactly 16 points in each of his last two BCL games, after scoring 16+ points in only two of his previous 16 games in the competition. Gray has also grabbed 8+ rebounds in each of his last two appearances, after never tallying more than six in any of his previous 16 games.
Zahir Porter has scored 54 points in his first three games in the BCL, while only Issuf Sanon has scored more points in his first three BCL games with VEF Riga (55pts) than Porter; he has made 15+ points and 5+ rebounds in two of his three league games, including in the reverse fixture against AEK (16pts, 5reb).
Despite four players finishing in double-digits, AEK lost 78-76 at home against PAOK in the Greek Basket League; Riga, instead, keep contending at the highest stage of the Latvian-Estonian League standings following their 90-74 win against BK Ogre thanks to Rostyslav Novitskyi and Dairis Bertans combining for 46 points.
