Play-In Game of the Week: Can the GIANTS defend home court against Limoges?

LUDWIGSBURG (Germany) - The new year has arrived and that means so has the Basketball Champions League Play-Ins. The first Play-In Game of the Week matchup features MHP RIESEN (4-2) and Limoges CSP (3-3). The German Giants have home court advantage and will be looking to start the best-of-three series 1-0.

Where: Ludwigsburg, Germany (MHP Arena)

When: 20:00 CET

Limoges began the 2022-23 BCL season 0-3 but won their final three Regular Season games by an average margin of 19.3 points to finish 3-3. Forward Desi Rodriguez and guard Bryce Jones were big reasons why they turned things around.

Rodriguez was named to the December Team of the Month in the BCL after averaging 20.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 60.9 percent from the field. Jones, meanwhile, averaged 20.5 points, 6.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game and shot 70.6 percent from the field in the final two Regular Season games.

  • RIESEN have lost their last two home games in the BCL, as many as in their previous eight home games in the competition; they won two of their previous three home games against teams from France in the BCL, with those two wins coming with margins of 20+ points.
  • Limoges have won their last three games in the BCL, including their last two road games, after winning only two of their first nine games in the competition; each of their last four BCL games ended with a margin of greater than 10 points after each of the first eight came with margins of fewer than seven points.
  • Limoges have conceded 30.2 percent of their total allowed points in the paint, the best defensive ratio in the BCL this season; RIESEN, on the other hand, have seen their opponents score 52.6 percent of their total points in the paint, the worst such ratio in the league.
  • Limoges have conceded just 28.8 points per game in the second half, the best defensive average of any team in the BCL this season – in fact, no other team concedes fewer than 32 points after halftime.
  • Limoges' Wifried Yeguete has grabbed 10+ rebounds in seven BCL games, more often than any other French player in the competition; four of the last five times he grabbed 10+ rebounds were during away games, including in the most recent one (10 against S.L. Benfica).
