Game of the Week Preview: Can Dijon treat home fans to Round of 16 berth?

DIJON (France) - The final Play-In Game of the Week series will be JDA Bourgogne Dijon and Peristeri bwin on Wednesday January 18. With the series tied 1-1, Dijon have home court advantage in this Game 3, as they attempt to clinch their spot in the Round of 16.

The winner of this game will be the last of the four teams in the Round of 16 Group I and will play alongside SIG Strasbourg, Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem and Hapoel Atsmon Holon.

Where: Dijon, France (Palais des Sport Jean-Michel Geoffroy)

When: 20:00 CET

In the two games of the series so far, Dijon's dynamic duo of David Holston and Markis McDuffie have created problems, as Holston is averaging 11.5 points and 11.0 assists per game, while McDuffie is averaging 23.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Holston is able to create for himself and others at a high level and with so much attention being put on the point guard, other players like McDuffie have the opportunity to be the beneficiary of this thanks to being in positions to score in multiple situations on offense.

Game 1: Dijon won 89-80

Game 2: Peristeri won 92-88 in overtime

  • The two previous games in this series have been won by the home team of the day, with both teams scoring 80 or more points in each of those matchups; the team losing at halftime managed to come back and win both previous games.
  • Dijon lost their most recent game 92-88 at Peristeri but have been alternating between wins and losses in their last 12 games in the BCL; Dijon haven't lost consecutive league games since January 2021.
  • Dijon's David Holston needs to score 12 points to reach fifth place on the all-time scoring list in the BCL; he currently has 727 points, while TaShawn Thomas has 738; Peristeri's Miro Bilan is currently tied with J'Covan Brown in the third spot (745 points), and needs just one point to stand alone, only behind Giorgi Shermadini (767) and Vojtech Hruban (996).
  • Peristeri have won just one of their last six away games in the BCL; they have conceded more than 85 points in each of their four road games this season. Peristeri have lost their two BCL trips to France.
  • Sylvain Francisco has scored 16+ points in six of his eight BCL games with Peristeri; however, his lowest scoring game in 2022-23 was on Dijon's homecourt (9 points) - the French international has exactly eight assists in his two games in these Play-Ins, the most for him in a BCL game.
