Did Final Four teams improve during Play-Offs?


MIES, Switzerland (Basketball Champions League) - When comparing to the Regular Season, did AEK, AS Monaco, MHP Riesen Ludgwigsburg and UCAM Murcia improve their game during the Play-Offs? Let's find out with some key facts for each of the four teams participating in the Final Four in Athens.

AEK (GRE)

  • In the BCL Play-Offs, AEK have made 85.5 points per game, 3.4 more points per contest than during the Regular Season (82.1). Among the Final Four teams, AEK improved the most in points per game.
  • AEK have scored 82.3% of their attempted free-throws in the Play-Offs, improving in 8.5 percentage points their Regular Season scoring ratio (73.8%). Among the Final Four teams, AEK have the best FT% in this year’s Play-Offs.
  • AEK have allowed their opponents to score 83 points per game in the Play-Offs while in the Regular Season they conceded 79.3 per game. Among the Final Four teams, no other side have conceded as much points per game as the Greeks.
  • AEK have made 1.5 more FT per game during the Play-Offs than during the Regular Season. They’re the only team in the Final Four able to improve the number of free-throws made per game. They have also improved their scoring percentage from the line, making 82.3% during the Play-Offs in comparison to the 73.8% they have made during the Regular Season.
  • AEK have won 6.5 offensive rebounds per game in the Play-Offs, while they grabbed 11.6 per game during the Regular Season. Among the Final Four teams, the Greeks have tallied the fewer rebounds per game.

 


AS MONACO (FRA)

  • AS Monaco are scoring at a lower percentage from the field in the Play-Offs (49.7%) than during the Regular Season (51.7%), in which only them and Pinar Karsiyaka have made more than 50% of their attempted FG.
  • AS Monaco have allowed their opponents to score more 10.2 percentage points from 3-points territory in the Play-Offs (41.6%) than during the Regular Season (31.4%), the largest decrease among Final Four teams in terms of defending the 3-point shot.
  • AS Monaco have grabbed 28 defensive rebounds per game in the Play-Offs, the most among Final Four teams. The French side have tallied 3.4 more defensive rebounds in the elimination rounds than in the Regular Season (24.6).
  • AS Monaco have tallied 13.6 turnovers per game during the Regular Season, but have reduced that number to nine per game during the Play-Offs, the lowest amount of TO among all teams in the Final Four.
  • Only Iberostar Tenerife have a better assist per turnover ratio than AS Monaco in the Basketball Champions League this season. The French side have increased their ratio from 1.6 in the Regular Season to 2.2 assists/turnover in the Play-Offs.

 

MHP RIESEN LUDWIGSBURG (GER)

  • MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg have conceded 78 points per game in the Play-Offs, 8.4 more points than in the Regular Season (69.6 per game).
  • They are making 37.1% of their 3-point attempts in the Play-Offs, an improvement from the 30.6% they made during the Regular Season. Among the Final Four teams, the Germans are the team with the best scoring ratio from behind the arc in the elimination rounds.
  • MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg have blocked 3.8 shots per game during the Play-Offs, the most among all teams in the Final Four. They have improved from their 2.1 blocks per game in the Regular Season.
  • MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg have dished 2.8 more assists per game in the Play-Offs than in the Regular Season. Among the Final Four teams, only AS Monaco have dished more assists than their Semi-final rivals.
  • The German side have made 72.3% of their attempted FT in the Play-Offs after making 76.2% from the line during the Regular Season. Among the teams in the Final Four, only UCAM Murcia have scored at a lower ratio from the line than MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg.

 

UCAM MURCIA (ESP)

  • UCAM Murcia have conceded 70 points per game in the Play-Offs after allowing their opponents to score 78.9 points per game in the Regular Season. Among the Final Four teams only the Spanish side have conceded fewer points in the elimination rounds than in Regular Season.
  • They have allowed their opponents to attempt fewer 5.5 shots from the field in the Play-Offs (52.8) than during the Regular Season (58.3).
  • UCAM Murcia have made 44.9% of their attempted field goals during the Play-Offs after making 41.9% of their shots from the field in the Regular Season. Among the Final Four teams, the Spanish side have improved the most in FG%.
  • UCAM Murcia have made fewer 5.1 free throws per game in the Play-Offs than in the Regular Season. They have finished the Regular Season as the team with the most FTs made per game.
  • After stealing only six ball possessions per game during the Regular Season, the lowest among the Final Four teams, UCAM Murcia have tallied eight steals per game in the Play-Offs – considering the Final Four teams, only MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg have tallied more steals in the elimination rounds.
