Week 6 - Tuesday games preview

MIES (Switzerland) - The Basketball Champions League is back after being on break for the national teams window and week six action tips off on Tuesday November 22 with three games (not including the Game of the Week).

Here's a look at the three games on Tuesday:

Game 1: Tofas Bursa (1-2) v SIG Strasbourg (2-1) - Group A

Where: Bursa, Turkey

When: 18:00 CET

  • Tofas and Strasbourg will meet for the fourth time in the BCL history. The French side won the first matchup this season 94-89 after Tofas won both matchups in 2021-22.
  • Tofas have won seven of their last nine games at home in the BCL, after winning just one of their previous five such games; Tofas beat Falco Szombathely by a 27-point margin in their last BCL game at home but are yet to win consecutive games by more than 10 points on their own court.
  • Bouba Toure is averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds in his last two games with Tofas in the BCL; Toure's only double-double in the competition came in the last game against Strasbourg and he has at least a steal and a block in each of his three league appearances.
  • Strasbourg have lost their last three road games in the BCL but have never had a longer losing streak in the league; Strasbourg's three BCL games this season have ended with margins of five or less points.
  • Matt Mitchell has scored more than 20 points in two of his three games with Strasbourg in the BCL this season, after scoring that many in only one of his 15 games last season; Mitchell has scored 10+ points in seven of his eight away games in the BCL, with the only exception being a five-point performance at Tofas in November 2021.

Game 2: Filou Oostende (1-2) v Legia Warszawa (0-3) - Group C

Where: Oostende, Belgium

When: 20:00 CET

  • Oostende won the last game against Legia (68-59) but they have won their two encounters against an opponent during a single BCL regular season only once since the start of 2020/21 (v Kalev/Cramo last season).
  • Oostende have lost their last two games at home in the BCL but are yet to lose more consecutive such games in the history of the competition; seven of Oostende's last 10 BCL games at home have ended with double digit margins.
  • Oostende have grabbed more defensive rebounds per game than any other team in the BCL this season (30.3), while Legia have grabbed the fewest offensive rebounds per game (6.7) in
    2022-23.
  • Legia are yet to win a game in the BCL after losing their first three this season; Legia have lost those three games despite never being in a losing position at the start of the fourth quarter.
  • Ray McCallum has scored 15+ points in each of his three games with Legia in the BCL, being their only player to have scored in double figures in all three games; McCallum has made 3+ shots from behind the arc in each of those games.

Game 3: BAXI Manresa (3-0) v S.L. Benfica (2-1) - Group F

Where: Manresa, Spain

When: 21:00 CET

  • Manresa won 97-78 the last game against Benfica in the BCL, winning all four quarters during this game; Manresa's bench players scored 60 points against Benfica, the most for a team in a BCL game in 2022-23.
  • Manresa have won their last five home games in the BCL, each by margins of at least 15 points; they have scored more than 80 points in each of their last eight home games in the competition.
  • Jerrick Harding has scored 16+ points in each of his three BCL games with Manresa; in fact, he has scored 16 or more points in eight of his last nine games in the competition (three with Manresa, five with Nymburk); Harding is making 51 percent of his field goal attempts this season.
  • Benfica have won their two away games in the BCL and lost their only home game; since the beginning of the 2019-20 season, only one debutant team has managed to win their first three away games in the competition, it was Tofas in 2020-21.
  • Aaron Broussard has scored more than 12 points in each of his three games with Benfica in the BCL this season, after scoring that many points in only two of his previous 11 games in the competition (with Nizhny Novgorod & Anwil); Broussard is making 53.3 percent of his three-point shots this season.
