25 things to look out for in Tuesday's games


MIES (Switzerland) - The Basketball Champions League is back this week with Round of 16 Week 4 action from Groups I, K and L after being on break while the national teams took center stage around the world.

Here's a look at the five games on Tuesday:

Darussafaka Lassa (0-3) v UCAM Murcia (2-1) 

Group L - 18:00 CET - Istanbul, Turkey

  • Darussafaka have lost their three most recent games in the BCL, including their last game against Murcia (96-87) but haven't lost more on the bounce since a six-game losing streak between November 2020 and October 2021.
  • Ercan Osmani has tallied 91 points in his last seven BCL games, almost as many as in his initial 18 games in the competition (92); he also grabbed 57 rebounds in those seven games, more than in his previous 18 games combined (53).
  • Murcia have won eight of their 11 games in the BCL in 2022-23, but all those three defeats happened while playing away – Murcia's three losses this season ended up with margins of 10 or more points.
  • Murcia have drawn 25 fouls per game, the highest average of any team in the BCL this season; of their 84.6 points per game, 25 percent came from the free-throw line, the highest ratio this season.
  • Murcia's Thad McFadden scored 26 points in the last game against Darussafaka, his best tally in the BCL since February 2017 (26 v Partizan with PAOK); he has made 4+ three-pointers in each of his last two games, as often as in his previous 15 appearances.

Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem (2-1) v Hapoel Atsmon Holon (0-3)

Group I - 18:30 CET - Jerusalem, Israel

 

  • Jerusalem have won six of their last seven games in the BCL, including the last game against Holon (65-63); however, their only defeat in that span happened at home (84-77 v JDA Bourgogne Dijon).
  • Zach Hankins scored 28 points in his last game, against Strasbourg, his best tally in his 25 BCL appearances; however, he failed to score 10+ points only once in his last 10 games and it was in the last game against Holon (seven); Hankins has grabbed 10+ rebounds in each of his last three games, more often than in his previous 22 BCL appearances combined (two).
  • Holon are on a three-game losing streak in the BCL but haven't lost more in a row since November – December 2019 when they were defeated in four consecutive games; those three defeats happened in games in which they were leading at halftime.
  • Holon have 21.1 assists per 100 possessions, the highest assist ratio of any team in the BCL in 2022-23; only Lenovo Tenerife have scored more points per 100 possessions (120.8) than the Israeli side in the league this term (120.6).
  • Joe Ragland has scored 12+ points in each of his last six BCL games, making an average of 3.3 shots from behind the arc and 9.5 assists per game in the process; however, he made only three assists in the last game against Jerusalem, his lowest tally in his 30 BCL games with Holon.

Surne Bilbao (1-2) v Lenovo Tenerife (3-0) 

Group L - 20:00 CET - Bilbao, Spain
  • Bilbao have lost their two last games in the BCL, with their most recent defeat happening at the hands of Tenerife (78-66) – however, they have never lost three consecutive league games. Bilbao's last three BCL defeats happened in games in which they scored fewer than 75 points.
  • Bilbao have conceded the fewest points from turnovers (11.8 per game) and the fewest from fast break situations (6.7 per game) in the BCL this season; they are also the team that allows and concedes the fewest free-throws per game in the league this season (8.4 free-throws made / 12.2 free-throws attempted).
  • Tenerife have won 18 of their last 20 games in the BCL, but both defeats in that process happened while playing away from home. This will be Txus Vidorreta's 100th game in the BCL, becoming the first coach ever to reach that mark (75 wins).
  • Tenerife have scored the most points per 100 possessions (120.8) and have conceded the fewest (100.3) amongst all teams in the BCL this season; they are also the team allowing the fewest offensive possessions to their opponents in the league this season (68.6 per game).
  • Tenerife's Giorgi Shermadini scored 22 points in the last game against Bilbao, the only time in his last 27 BCL games that he managed to score 20+ points; he made 10 field goals in that game, his personal best in a BCL game (also 10 v Bakken Bears in October 2020).

Unicaja (2-0) v Galatasaray Nef (1-1) 

Group K - 20:30 CET - Malaga, Spain
  • Unicaja have won seven of their last eight games in the BCL; they have conceded fewer than 70 points in each of their last two games in the competition, as many times as in their previous 11 games in the league.
  • Unicaja are grabbing 78.1 percent of defensive rebounds, the highest defensive rebounding percentage of any team in the BCL this season; they are allowing their opponents to average only 6.9 offensive rebounds per game, the lowest average in the league this season.
  • Galatasaray have lost their most recent game in the BCL (81-71 v AEK) but are yet to lose consecutive games in the league this season; Galatasaray have lost the last five games where they conceded 80+ points.
  • Galatasaray are the only team averaging fewer than 10 turnovers per game in the BCL this season (9.6) and are also the team with the best assists per turnover ratio in the competition (2.1).
  • Dusan Ristic has recorded two double-doubles in only two BCL games played with Galatasaray, already more than any other player with the Turkish side in the competition; he is also the only player to have multiple double-doubles while coming from the bench in the BCL this season.

  • Limoges have lost their last three games in the BCL, after winning five of their previous six games in the competition; their last three home games have ended with margins of 17+ points, after the previous five ended with differentials of five points or fewer.
  • Jayvon Graves has tallied 74 points in his last four BCL games, as many points as in his first eight games in the competition combined (74); in addition to the 20 points he scored in the last game against AEK, his second-best tally in the competition, he also added seven rebounds and seven assists, both his records in a BCL game.
  • AEK have won six of their last seven games in the BCL, as many wins as in their previous 19 league games; they have won their most recent away game (81-71 at Galatasaray) but have been alternating between wins and losses when playing on the road in the BCL this season (3-3).
  • AEK have conceded just 24.9 points per game in the paint, fewer than any other team in the BCL in 2022-23; the Greek team has conceded 15.8 two-point shots per game, also the lowest in the league this season.
  • AEK's Akil Mitchell was the best point scorer in the last game against Limoges (21 points) and has scored 12+ points in each of his last 12 BCL games; Mitchell has grabbed 13+ rebounds in each of his last three away games in the competition after never reaching double figures in his initial four away games.
