Tartu out-defend Donar and continue in race

Tartu (Basketball Champions League) – BC Tartu will continue in Qualification Round 2 of the Basketball Champions League after prevailing 65-57 over Donar Groningen at home in the second leg of their tie and win 141-133 on aggregate. Tartu will now face Bakken Bears in a two-leg tie next week, with the winner advancing to the Regular Season.

The hosts pulled ahead 19-10 by the end of the opening period but Donar reduced the gap to seven points by the half-time interval and fans in Tartu braced for another tight encounter, mindful of the fact the first leg in the Netherlands had resulted in a 76-all draw.

The Estonian team however thought otherwise and used a small burst early in the third frame to increase the lead to 43-29 midway through the period and Donar did not manage to come again within striking distance.

The hosts out-rebounded their visitors 43 to 29 and went 8-of-7 from long range, while the Dutch side only shot 4-of-21 from deep. Dominykas Milka and Mandell Thomas each had 16 points for the winners, the former also adding 10 rebounds to register a double-double.
