MIES (Switzerland) - The Patrick Baumann House of Basketball welcomed Galatasaray's delegation on Thursday, with Club President Dursun Ozbek and Board Member Can Natan in attendance in Mies.
They met with FIBA President Sheikh Saud Ali Al Thani, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis and FIBA Senior Director Zoran Radovic, discussing Galatasaray's growth plans and vision for the European basketball landscape.
The Turkish powerhouse's leadership updated FIBA about its recent meeting with the NBA, as Galatasaray Board Member Natan met with the NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, NBA Vice President Marc Tatum and NBA Europe Managing Director George Aivazoglou in London in July.
The club also shared its plans for a new arena in Istanbul, getting valuable feedback from FIBA's leadership regarding potential benefits of a new arena in the current basketball ecosystem.
Galatasaray men's team will play in the upcoming Basketball Champions League Season X, coming in as one of the teams to beat, having finished runners-up three months ago in the Season IX BCL Final Four, powered by SUNEL in Athens, Greece, losing to Unicaja in the championship game.
Their ambition to grow the club internationally doesn't stop there, either. Galatasaray women's team will once again be part of the EuroLeague Women Regular Season in 2025-26, returning to the competition for the first time in three years.
They will attempt to repeat the success of 2014, when Galatasaray women lifted the most prestigious club trophy in Europe, defeating arch rivals Fenerbahce 69-58 in the Final in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
