MIES (Switzerland) - The Basketball Champions League Season X continued with 16 games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday gives us time to reflect on the best individual performances.
The second Team of the Week saw players from Patrioti Levice, La Laguna Tenerife, MLP Academics Heidelberg, Galatasaray MCT Technic and AEK BC make the cut.
The best point guard of the week was Rickey McGill. The 28-year-old led Patrioti Levice to a historical first win in BCL, getting 22 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds on the road at VEF Riga.
La Laguna Tenerife climbed up to 2-0, and coach Txus Vidorreta will be happy with Jaime Fernandez's run to start the season. He scored in double digits in all game in Spain and the BCL so far, culminating with 25 points in just 21 minutes against Bnei Penlink Herzliya.
MLP Academics Heidelberg finally got off the mark, defeating Rytas Vilnius for their first win of the season in all competitions. DJ Horne was the top scorer of the week, counting to 33 on 6-of-9 shooting from deep.
Galatasaray are up to 2-0 after a clutch win over Pallacanestro Trieste in Italy. It was Frederick Gillespie who had the game-winning tip-in, but it was Fabian White Jr who carried the team towards the dramatic finish.
The stretch "four" scored 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-4 from deep, while also grabbing 9 rebounds, with 2 assists, 2 steals, a block and no turnovers to his name.
White became only the third player in BCL history with 10 straight games of 15+ points, joining DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell and Zoltan Perl.
Finally, the middle belongs to Chris Silva. AEK's big guy was a force to be reckoned with on both ends, finishing with 19 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while also getting 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
