Joventut, Unicaja through to the Quarter-Finals

Two Spanish teams reach the elite eight phase

Fifth straight Quarter-Finals for Unicaja, first ever for Asisa Joventut

MIES (Switzerland) - With Asisa Joventut defeating Fitness First Wurzburg Baskets 91-84, and Unicaja outlasting Elan Chalon 80-70 on the road, the situation is clear in Group K. The two Spanish teams moved to the Quarter-Finals.

Joventut lead the group at 4-1, closely followed by Unicaja at 3-2. The two of them will play head-to-head in Malaga next week, to determine the group winners.

Ricky Rubio, Jabari Parker and the others from Badalona own a five-point advantage from the first matchup, meaning they would still win the group even with a defeat by up to four points.

In case of Unicaja's five-point win, the total points difference would decide the winner of Group K, while a win by 5+ points would send Unicaja to the top spot.

For Unicaja, this is their fifth consecutive BCL Quarter-Finals appearance. In 2022, they were eliminated in that phase, since 2023 they made the Final Four each time, culminating with back-to-back titles over the past two seasons.

For Asisa Joventut, this is their first BCL season, hence, their first Quarter-Finals berth. The motivation is off the charts for La Penya, as the Final Four will be played in Badalona on May 7 to 9.

There are only four Quarter-Finals spots remaining now, as AEK BC and ALBA BERLIN booked their tickets before the February break.
