Group J: AEK complete the Round of 16 sweep

    Review
Overtime thriller, overtime win for AEK

In true Basketball Champions League fashion, the last game of the Round of 16 went to overtime.

MIES (Switzerland) - La Laguna Tenerife in 2022 and 2025, Telekom Baskets Bonn in 2023, Unicaja in 2024, and now, AEK BC in 2026.

Those are the only teams to register a 6-0 record in the Round of 16 of the Basketball Champions League, powered by Ameresco SUNEL.

    ALBA BERLIN 88-93 AEK BC

What's a BCL Wednesday without an overtime thriller?

AEK BC knew they had it all in their hands going into the final Gameday, as they owned an eight-point advantage from the first matchup with ALBA BERLIN.

Chasing that gap, the hosts knew they weren't going to make it by the end of the fourth quarter, but Justin Bean's floater with 0.8 to play in Q4 sent the game to overtime, earning the German giants another five minutes to find a nine-point win.

Forcing AEK to play five more minutes only made them angrier. Frank Bartley and RaiQuan Gray took over, again, making the overtime a one-way street to get AEK their sixth win in as many games in the Round of 16.

Overall, they went 11-1 through the first two phases of Season X.

Bartley led the scoring with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, while also picking up 3 steals for an efficiency rating of 28.

Gray did the usual Gray things - 24 points, 7-of-10 shooting from the field, 10-of-10 from the charity stripe, with 5 assists and an efficiency rating of 29. Incredibly, in an overtime game that finished by five points, AEK were a +19 team with Gray on the floor.

It's not a coincidence, as the season +/- for Gray looks surreal. The 2018 champs are a +138 team with Gray this season.

ALBA got a 20-point, 9-rebound effort from Bean, but they find themselves in Pot 2 of the Quarter-Finals draw on Friday. That means they won't have home court advantage, and will face either Rytas Vilnius, Unicaja or La Laguna Tenerife.

    Tofas Bursa 90-98 Karditsa Iaponiki

With AEK and ALBA already through, Tofas Bursa and Karditsa Iaponiki were playing for pride.

The Greek newcomers had a number of games where they led after the third quarter, only to lose the game, three of them coming in the Round of 16 before this encounter.

When they put up 30 points in the third to take a 79-61 lead, it was clear they will finally end the drought and sign off with a win to their name.

It finished 98-90, taking both teams to 1-5 after six games. Karditsa had seven men in double figures, becoming only the fifth team in BCL history to achieve that kind of depth.

Noah Horchler had a team-high 15 points, while Aaron Estrada, Nikolaos Diplaros and Damien Jefferson combined for 22 assists.

Marek Blazevic signed off with 23 points for Tofas.
