Basketball Champions League confirms its impressive digital footprint

MIES (Switzerland) – The Basketball Champions League continues to strengthen its position as one of the fastest growing and most digitally active leagues in Europe, mostly thanks to the growth of its digital assets.

There is much to savor from the 2021-22 Basketball Champions League. The competition gave the fans plenty of inspirational moments to discuss. In all, the sixth season registered an increase of fans and consumption, with more than 79 million video views and reached more than 107 million fans  through social media over the course of this season.

The Final 4 in Bilbao itself has generated a ton of excitement, triggering more than 6 million  video views, and reaching 7.7 million fans.

The league is top tier basically under EuroLeague. I feel like with the digital everything, you guys are the best.

"We are extremely happy to see the competition confirming its massive success on social media. At the end of the season, there are close to 2.5 million followers of the BCL on its various platforms. The recent launch of our Tik-Tok channel has been remarkable, and greatly participates in our growth. The digital output of the first six seasons is impressive. We are very proud of such an achievement, and to see so many fans appreciate and interact with our content," said Patrick Comninos, the CEO of the Basketball Champions League.

The digital side was as good as anything that I've been a part of. It was just mind-blowing because they just kept coming up with different ways to promote the game, the players and keep people entertained.

Eventually, www.championsleague.basketball generated close to 5.5 million visits in the course of the 2021-22 campaign with fans eager to read features and interviews about star players. The Basketball Champions League Instagram platform alone rose by 11% compared to last season.

The Champions League, I love it. As you know I’ve played three different seasons in BCL. As a whole I think it’s a great league. In comparison to the other leagues in Europe, I think you guys are the best as far as social media.

The social team for the Champions League is the best in Europe!! Killing it all around, made the Final Four experience fun for the players and you always respond to our requests.
