Qualification Round 3, Gameday 1 - Round Up


MIES (Basketball Champions League) - We took another step towards the Basketball Champions League Regular Season on Monday with Gameday 1 of Qualification Round 3 taking place.



Here's what happened, ahead of Gameday 2 taking place on Thursday:

Karhu Basket vs Nanterre 92

Nanterre 92 left little doubt with a 91-54 victory over Karhu Basket on Monday night in Finland.



With Karhu right in the game, Nanterre turned it up a notch in the second half, outscoring the home team 60- 17 across the third and fourth periods to take a 37 point advantage into the second leg on Thursday.

Haukur Palsson led five players into double figures for the French side with 18 points, Dominic Waters had 14 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists and Adas Juskevicius 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists.  

Durrell Summers led the home team with 18 points, and Michael Moser added 15.

Nizhny Novgorod vs Pardubice
Nizhny Novgorod took control in the second quarter to take a 92-84 win over Pardubice on Monday evening in the opening Leg of their Qualification Round 3 match-up.



Dmitrii Uzinskii led the home team with 17 points, with Roderick Odom adding  15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Nizhny led by up to 15 and then managed to hold off a Pardubice fight back.

Donovan Jackson went 5-for-9 from three-point range as he exploded for 30 points, but it would not be enough for Pardubice who will need to win the second leg by 8 or more to ensure their Regular Season spot.

Polski Cukier Torun vs Medi Bayreuth

Polski Cukier Torun and Media Bayreuth will go into the second leg with a win or go home mentality after finishing Gameday 1 tied up at 73-a-piece on Monday night in Poland.



Adonis Thomas pulled in an offensive rebound and converted the lay up with 2 seconds remaining to tie it up for Medi Bayreuth, as neither team could separate themselves in a game that featured 14 lead changes.

Karol Gruszecki had 17 points to lead the Polish side, whilst Rob Lowery added 13 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists.

Thomas finished with a game-high 18 points, and David Stockton added 13.

Fribourg Olympic vs Sakarya BSB
Fribourg Olympic made a comeback down the stretch to take an 87-85 win over Sakarya BSB on Monday night in Switzerlands.


Trailing by 8 heading into the final five minutes, Fribourg finished the game on a 19-9 run to pull out the victory. Justin Roberson hit the go-ahead three with 14 seconds remaining, before knocking down a free throw for the final margin.

Roberson finished with 29 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists, and Babacar Toure added 8 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists as Fribourg registered 24 assists on the night.

Jean Salumu led Sakarya with 27 points, as they will look ahead to the second leg on Thursday. 

Spirou Charleroi vs UCAM Murcia

UCAM Murcia were the final team to register victory on Gameday 1 of Qualification Round 3, with a 71-62 win over Spirou Charleroi at the Spiroudome.



After neither team were able to gain an edge, the Spanish side went on a 15-6 run over the final 4:38, led by Emanuel Cate and Ovie Soko.

Cate finished with 23 points to lead Murcia, missing just two shots, with Milton Doyle adding 15 points. 

Alexandre Libert and Matt Mobley had 13 and 12 points respectively for Spirou.
