Wright the hero as Strasbourg beat AEK in the dying seconds

STRASBOURG (Basketball Champions League) - Zack Wright knocked down a tough left handed drive in the lane with seconds remaining to give SIG Strasbourg an 80-78 win over AEK on Tuesday night.

After a deep three from Dusan Sakota at the other end, the game looked headed to overtime until Wright's heroics.

With 22 seconds remaining, Wright dribbled down the clock before making his move as he spun to the basket, hesitated and finished whilst getting fouled.

It capped a 26-point, 6-rebound, 3-assist night for Wright, who went 10 of 15 from the floor.

"It was an important game, and both teams were tired too," Wright said.

"For us, it's always important for us to win at home, especially in European competition because it's so hard to win in their gym because they have crazy fans and good atmosphere.

"The main thing was to get the win tonight, we played collectively very well and I think we're finally starting to understand coach's philosophy. We played good on both sides of the floor, offence and defence."

David Logan added 20 points of his own for the home side, and Louis Labeyrie hauled in 10 rebounds.

Dusan Sakota went 4 of 5 from three-point range for his 19 points, with Mike Green adding 18 and Manny Harris 11.

"We came out flat," Green said after the game. We pretty much spotted them 10 points, and against a team like Strasbourg, especially at their home court, you can't do that, so you got to put a lot more effort trying to get back in the game.

"Strasbourg has been doing well for years, they got a good team, they're well coached and had a great home court advantage, we definitely expected a tough game."

Strasbourg were in control for the majority of the game, leading by as many as 16 before a crazy fourth quarter.

Trailing 65-54, AEK knocked down four consecutive three-pointers for a 12-0 run; three of them coming from Sakota, to take a 66-65 lead with 5:40 remaining in the game.

Green and Sakota continued to lead AEK's charge, meanwhile Wright did everything in his ability hold them off, scoring 8 points, including the winner, in the final four minutes to lead his squad to the win.

Strasbourg are 3-2 now, whilst AEK dropped to 2-3.
