Alba Fehervar take narrow first-leg win against Pinar Karsiyaka

SZEKESFEHERVAR (Basketball Champions League) - Alba Fehervar scored the contest's last six points and claimed a 92-90 win over visiting Pinar Karsiyaka on Friday night in the opening game of their Basketball Champions League Qualification Round 3 showdown.

Peter Lorant paced the Hungarian side with 24 points and 6 rebounds while David Kennedy had 20 points and 12 boards in defeat.

The second leg will be played on Monday in Izmir with the winner on aggregate clinching a spot in the Regular Season.

The Turkish team had a quick start, pouring in 31 points in the first quarter to lead by nine. The hosts hit back with a vengeance in the second, however, and were on top, 49-46, at half-time.

Alba Fehervar's biggest advantage the rest of the way came courtesy of a 7-0 spurt midway through the third quarter, with Kasey Hill's shot from the arc capping it for a 67-58 lead.

Pinar Karsiyaka dug in and eventually clawed their back in the fourth quarter to 84-84 on a jump shot by Gani Erdi Gulaslan. A basket by Dominic Waters and a two free-throws from Jarrod Jones put the Turkish outfit in front at 90-86 with 2:16 left.

Alba scored their last 6 points at the free-throw line, including five from Lorant.
