Besiktas survive Ludwigsburg test and top Group E

ISTANBUL (Basketball Champions League) - Besiktas edged out MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg 88-85 to finish the Basketball Champions League regular season with a 12-2 record on Wednesday evening.

With first place in Group E already secured, Besiktas' victory was only secured when Drew Crawford's game tying three point attempt missed at the buzzer.

Crawford had 10 points in the fourth quarter whilst leading his team's charge, including two threes in the final 2:36, the last of which brought Ludwigsburg within one with 13 seconds to play.

D.J. Strawberry stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, Vladimir Stimac had yet another double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Earl Clark had 14 points off the bench as Besiktas completed the group stage with 100% home win record.

Besiktas led for all but approximately 45 seconds of the game in the early stages, but it did not stop MHP RIESEN being hard on their heels throughout.

Cooley led a balanced Ludwigsburg scoring effort with 12 points, as the away side had no less than eight players with at least 8 points, finishing the regular season at 8-6.
