Adomaitis´s Neptunas extend perfect start by rolling over Varese

KLAIPEDA (Basketball Champions League) – Neptunas Klaipeda celebrated in style the appointment of their head coach Dainius Adomaitis as the new boss of the Lithuanian national team on Wednesday night, as they rolled over Openjobmetis Varese 940-60 at home to become the first team to reach two wins in Group C.

"We are very happy for this win because after winning the first game on the road the worse thing that could happen to us would be to lose at home, we would be throwing away that victory at Usak. We now have two wins from two games, it´s what we wanted," Adas Klimavičius explained afterwards.

The Lithuanian side´s dominance under the rim was overwhelming, as they out-rebounded the visitors 50 to 25. Neptunas scored a whopping 44 points in the paint, while Varese only had 16 points from close range.

Neptunas used a superb stretch in the second quarter to build a 48-27 lead with less than three minutes remaining to the half-time buzzer and cruised the rest of the way, with the gap ballooning to as many as 34 points in the final frame.

"I want to congratulate my players because they did an excellent job during 40 minutes without looking at the scoreboard. A lot of credit goes also to our fans who gave us this energy, they were fantastic," said coach Adomaitis.

Sharp-shooter Jimmy Baron went 5-of-8 from three-point range and led five Neptunas players with his 19 points while Adas Klimavičius had 16 points and seven rebounds.
