The highly anticipated FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024 Draw was completed on March 27 at 12:00 PM (GMT +3), at the Wyndham Grand Levent Hotel in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The 16 teams at the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024 discovered their exciting paths towards winning the title.

The FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024 tips off on June 29 and concludes on July 7.

  •  The draw was livestreamed on FIBA's YouTube channel.

  • The participating teams of the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024 were distributed in four pots created to reflect the strength of the continents regarding the current FIBA World Ranking Boys Presented by Nike and the results of the previous FIBA U16 Continental Cup. The pots are as follows:

    POT 1: Türkiye, USA, Spain, Australia
    POT 2: Italy, France, Lithuania, Canada
    POT 3: Germany, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Guinea
    POT 4: New Zealand, China, Egypt, Philippines

    By the draw, the teams from each pot were distributed in four groups, and at the same time they were assigned the competition numbers.

    Teams from Africa, the Americas, and Asia/Oceania could not be drawn into the same group. There would not be more than 2 teams from Europe in the same group.

  • FIBA President Sheikh Saud Ali Al Thani and Mr. Hidayet Turkoglu, President of the Turkish Basketball Federation, were speakers at the event and watched former Turkish National Team player Kerem Tunceri perform the draw.

  • The participating teams qualified either as hosts or based on their final standings at the respective FIBA U16 Continental Cups 2023. The teams are as follows:

    Hosts: Türkiye
    FIBA U16 AfroBasket 2023: Guinea (Champions), Egypt
    FIBA U16 AmeriCup 2023: USA (Champions), Canada, Puerto Rico, Argentina
    FIBA U16 Asia Cup 2023: Australia (Champions), New Zealand, China, Philippines
    FIBA U16 EuroBasket 2023: Spain (Champions), Italy, France, Lithuania, Germany
