SIG Strasbourg

Who are they?

One of the biggest teams in BCL history, SIG Strasbourg played a big role in each season so far. They are coming in as the finalist of the French Cup, which they won twice in their history, along with two Leaders Cup trophies and one championship.

Coached by Lassi Tuovi, they have their brand of physical basketball and a variety of small ball lineups which always turn out to be matchup nightmares. Strasbourg have the longevity and the know-how to go deep in this season.

Their biggest BCL success?

Back in 2020-21, they created one of the biggest upsets in BCL history, eliminating Lenovo Tenerife in the Quarter-Finals and finishing fourth at the season ending tournament in Nizhny Novgorod.

Why should I watch them?

Their core is the same as last season, with DeAndre Lansdowne, Matt Mitchell, Leo Cavaliere, Jean-Baptiste Maille and Ike Udanoh returning, along with the coaching staff. Keep an eye on one of the new guys, Marcus Keene is the undersized point guard that fits the John Roberson/Brandon Jefferson profile, and could lead the BCL in scoring.

UCAM Murcia

Who are they?

Universidad Catolica de Murcia Club de Baloncesto, S.A.D. Or, as the rest of the continent knows them, UCAM Murcia. A team that reached the Semi-Finals of the Copa del Rey last season, and a constant member of the Liga Endesa since they won the LEB Oro in 2010-11.

Coached by Sito Alonso for the past three years, UCAM Murcia have developed their style of play, blending in a lot of international flavor, which is completely understandable when you see their roster and players from Spain, USA, Azerbaijan, Senegal, Sweden, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Montenegro, Dominican Republic and DR Congo.

Their biggest BCL success?

With Ibon Navarro at their helm, UCAM Murcia reached the Final Four back in 2018, finishing third in Athens. A year later, they were even more impressive to start the season, putting together an incredible 13-1 Regular Season record, only to fall to Telenet Antwerp Giants in the Round of 16.

Why should I watch them?

They have Thad McFadden on their roster, the Final Eight MVP in 2020, and a two-time BCL champion with Burgos. They have Jordan Davis, one of the most explosive guards in European basketball, they have James Anderson, back-to-back EuroLeague champion, they have fan favorites Sadiel Rojas and Nemanja Radovic. International flavor is the name of the game for coach Alonso.

Falco Vulcano Szombathely

Who are they?

Four Hungarian championships don't sound like a lot considering the fact that Falco are a 42-year-old club. However, three of their four titles come from 2019 to today, turning them into a dominant force and starting a reign similar to ERA Nymburk in Czech Republic or Filou Oostende in Belgium.

Coached by Milos Konakov, Falco have created a loyal team which is followed by fans equally as loyal. With everybody in yellow and black, Szombathely earned a place on the basketball map, known for a crazy atmosphere that you won't find in a lot of places in the world.

Their biggest BCL success?

Last season, Falco stormed to win the Regular Season Group D ahead of Treviso, VEF Riga and AEK. They advanced to Group L in the Round of 16, but could not match the level of Lenovo Tenerife, SIG Strasbourg and Rytas Vilnius.

Why should I watch them?

Zoltan Perl is improving with each season, and at 27, he is a legit MVP candidate in any competition he plays. The fact that he is the hometown hero from Szombathely just makes his story even more impressive, leaving an international mark straight out of his neighborhood.

Tofas Bursa

Who are they?

Back in the late 1990s, they were the best Turkish clubs, winning back-to-back Turkish championship and back-to-back Turkish Cups. They had their struggles in 2010s, but since they returned to top flight in 2016-17, Tofas Bursa have been a force in Turkey.

Coached by Dimitris Priftis, who just arrived, Tofas will rely on their individual strength and the culture of promoting the prospects straight from their academy, not afraid to pair up international stars with Turkish teenagers.

Their biggest BCL success?

Tofas Bursa were just a couple of points away from reaching the Final Four last season. They were swept by Lenovo Tenerife in the Quarter-Finals in a 2-0 series, but the games finished 78-77 and 74-73. As close as they get...

Why should I watch them?

The BCL Qualification Rounds tournament showed how good they are, with Rob Gray emerging as the leader on this team, capable of getting 30 points against any opponent. Suleiman Braimoh, Tyler Ennis and Josh Reaves are names we already got to know in the BCL, and 18-year-old Berke Buyuktuncel could be in the hunt for the Best Young Player award.
