    Facts about Medellin:

    - 3rd Colombian city in term of population with almost 2 million inhabitants.

    - Medellin is a beautiful city located in the Aburrá Valley in Colombia. It is known for its spring-like climate, its vibrant culture, and its delicious food. Medellin has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent decades, one of the most innovative and liveable cities in Latin America.

    - Twinning city with Barcelona (Spain), Miami (USA), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Buenos Aires (Argentina), and Guadalajara (Mexico).

    - The city of Medellin, so does Colombia, has Spanish as official language.


    What to do in the city of Medellin? (Other than the Women Olympic Qualifier Tournament😉)

    1. Visit the Plaza Botero. Public square that is home to a collection of 23 bronze sculptures by Colombian artist Fernando Botero. The sculptures are known for their exaggerated proportions and their whimsical style.

    2. See the Metrocable. Cable car system that connects the city center to the hillside neighborhoods. It is a popular way to get around the city and to enjoy the stunning views. 

    3. Visit the Jardín Botánico de Medellín. Beautiful botanical garden that is home to a wide variety of plants and flowers. The garden is a popular place to relax and enjoy nature.

    4.  Take a day trip to Guatapé. A small town located about an hour outside of Medellín. It is known for its colorful buildings, its picturesque cobblestone streets, and its massive rock, El Peñol.

    The Coliseo Iván de Bedout is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Medellín, Colombia. It was opened in 1955 and has a capacity of 6,000 spectators. The arena is home to the Academia de la Montaña basketball team and is also used for a variety of concerts, exhibitions, and other events throughout the year.

The arena has a large competition hall with a hardwood floor, a seating bowl with comfortable seats, and a state-of-the-art sound system.
