How to qualify

FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Pre-Qualifiers Competition System

The 10 nations participating in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Pre-Qualifiers First Round will be sorted into three groups at the draw, which will take place on August 8 in Munich, Germany.

Group A will contain four teams, while Groups B and C will include three teams each.

Each team will play the other teams in its group in home and away games in a round robin system across three windows on February 19-27, 2024, November 18-26, 2024 and February 17-25, 2025.

Four teams in total - the three group winners plus the best ranked second placed team across all groups - will advance to the Second Round.

The second placed teams will be ranked according to the Official Basketball Rules.

They will be joined in the Second Round by eight non-qualified teams from the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers.

The 12 teams will be sorted into four groups of three teams each. Each team will play the other teams in its group in home and away games in a round robin system in Summer 2025, with the exact dates to be determined.

Eight teams in total - the two top-ranked teams from each group - will advance to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers.
