ANTALYA (Turkiye) - Contrary to Tournament 1, the opening day of action in Tournament 3 saw very little drama, as CSM CSU Oradea and Aliaga Petkimspor both claimed double-digit wins in the Quarter-Finals.
Oradea are looking for a way back to the Regular Season for the first time since Season 1 of the Basketball Champions League. They are now just two wins away from that mark, after a comfortable 90-59 win over the Caledonia Gladiators.
The first quarter offered a bit of back-and-forth, but a 33-15 margin in the second period was more than enough for the Romanians to cruise the rest of the way.
Donatas Tarolis scored a team-high 16 points, Sayeed Pridgett and Kris Richard both had 15, while Brandon Brown orchestrated the game perfectly as the point guard, staying scoreless but dishing out 9 assists in just 20 minutes of action.
Tanner Stuckman had 16 in a losing effort for the Scottish team.
In the other Quarter-Final of the day, Aliaga Petkimspor enjoyed the Turkish surroundings in Antalya, taking the lead over the Heroes Den Bosch late in the first quarter and never looking back en route to an 92-72 win.
We circled out Breein Tyree as the player to watch for the team from Turkiye, and he delivered already in his first game in Antalya, putting up 29 points in 28 minutes of action, with 4 rebounds and 4 assists also to his name.
Bryson Williams was right next to him with 22 points in 23 minutes off the bench, while Mustafa Kurtuldum and Troy Selim Sav added a bit of home-cooking with 10 each.
Petkimspor will now play against Cholet Basket, while Oradea will face PAOK mateco in the Semi-Finals on Thursday.
