Team of the Week: Blatt, Hatcher, Brown, Rich and Iverson

MIES (Basketball Champions League) - There was plenty of hoopin' and scoopin', shakin' and bakin', slammin' and jammin' on Gameday 10.

Here are the players that have made the Team of the Week.

Tamir Blatt, Guard

Blatt is always in the thick of the battle

He's growing up before our eyes, folks. Blatt is turning into a consummate point guard with his ball-handling, his pin-point accurate passing and his scoring, be it from long range or drives to the basket.  The latest effort was a 14-point, 8-assist, 3-rebound and 1-steal performance that helped Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem build an insurmountable lead against Telenet Giants Antwerp. With Hapoel able to cruise home over the final 15 minutes, Blatt also got a chance to show his cheerleading skills from the bench. He shone for the Israeli U20 side, then UNET Holon, then Israel and now he's doing it with Hapoel Jerusalem. And he's only 21!

William Hatcher, Guard

If there's one thing that Hatcher has always had in abundance, it's a competitive fire. Hatcher displayed plenty of it this week for PAOK in their 92-77 triumph over a visiting UNET Holon, burying 5 of 6 3-balls on his way to 26 points. Hatcher also dished out 5 assists.

Jason Rich, Guard

There's not a more confident player in the Basketball Champions League than Rich, who had a season-high 28 points to lead Besiktas to a 69-64 victory at SIG Strasbourg. Rich can hit open shots and he can drain hand-in-his-face shots. When the Istanbul outfit, which has now prevailed in four of its last five games in the BCL, is struggling and in need of a basket, they just dial 1-800-Jason-Rich.

Rion Brown, Guard

Google "scoring machine" and you'll end up with a photo of Brown doing something spectacular on the basketball court. The 27-year-old, who has a history of points explosions in the Basketball Champions League, served up the latest evidence that he's an elite player in the competition with a 31-point haul for Promitheus Patras in their 95-83 victory over medi Bayreuth. From downtown, Brown hit 2 of his 5 attempts and inside the arc he drilled 12 of 14.

Colton Iverson, Center

Iverson did yeoman's work for Iberostar Tenerife at Fribourg

He's big and burly, but also loaded with skill and savvy. Iverson had arguably his finest hour with title contenders Iberostar Tenerife on Tuesday night, scoring 23 points and corralling 11 rebounds in a much-closer-than-anyone-expected 72-66 win at Fribourg Olympic. With more performances like this, maybe Iverson should carry a bust of himself and deliver it in person on his next visit to the House of Basketball in Mies, where the Tenerife squad this week took a gander at the splendors of hardwood legends and more.
