Cruz best scorer of Americas and other facts about this week's #FBWC Qualifiers


MIES (Switzerland) - More than fifty players active in the Basketball Champions League will play with their national team this week, for the 2019 Basketball World Cup Qualifiers games. Let's have a look at some key facts regarding some of them!

Angola

  • Yanick Moreira (PAOK) is the best points scorer (13.2 per game) and rebounder (6.8 per game) for Angola in these Qualifiers. He has the best FG% in Africa among the players with 50+ attempts (55.7% - 49/88).








Argentina

  • Nicolas Brussino (Iberostar Tenerife) has scored 50.9% of his FGs attempted (27/53), best % among the guards with 40+ attempts in Americas.
  • Marcos Delia (UCAM Murcia) is one of the four Argentinian player to have taken part in each of the first eight games. He has made 62.8% of his FGs attempted, best % for Argentina among the players with more than 2 games played.


     

Canada

  • Aaron Best (MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg): Only three other players have played more minutes for Canada in these Qualifiers than him (92).





Czech Republic

  • Jaromir Bahocik (CEZ Nymburk) has made 19+ points in four of his eight appearances in the WC Qualifiers while scoring 50% of his attempted 3-pointers and 94.7% of his 19 FT attempts in the competition.
  • Only Vojtech Hruban (CEZ Nymburk) and three other players have scored 30+ points in a single game in these WC Qualifiers.
  • Martin Kriz (CEZ Nymburk) has made 64.3% of his 28 shots from the field in the World Cup Qualifiers, the best scoring ratio from the field among all Czech players in the competition.
  • Jakub Sirina (Opava) has not made any turnover in four of his eight appearances with Czech Republic in these WC Qualifiers.



Germany

  • Only four players have scored more points than Robin Benzing (Besiktas Sompo Japan) in the WC Qualifers (119); Benzing has made 50.7% of his shots from the field, 47.5% of his attempts from behind the arc and 90.3% from the FT line.



Greece

  • Ioannis Athinaiou (PAOK) has scored 94.1% of his 17 attempts from the FT line in the World Cup Qualifiers, the best scoring ratio from the line among all Greek players with 10+ FT attempts in the competition.
  • Charis Giannopoulos (AEK) has scored, at least, a 3-pointer in five of his six games for Greece in the World Cup Qualifiers: he has made 61.5% of his 13 attempts from behind the arc in the competition.
  • Giannoulis Larentzakis (AEK) has scored 17+ points in both games in which he has played more than 15+ minutes in these Qualifiers.



Israel

  • Guy Pnini (UNET Holon) has scored an average of 10.3 points per game while making 58.8% of his attemtped FG and 50% of his 3-pointers in the WC Qualifiers.
  • Tamir Blatt (Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem) has made 5.1 assists per game, more than any other Israel player in these qualifiers.


     

Italy

  • Pietro Aradori (Segafredo Virtus Bologna) has scored 15+ points in each of the three games in which he has played 16+ minutes in these World Cup Qualifiers.
  • Ariel Filloy (Sidigas Avellino) has dished an average of 3.4 assists per game, the most among all Italian players in these World Cup Qualifiers.
  • Paul Biligha (Umana Reyer Venezia) has blocked seven shots, the most among all Italian players in these World Cup Qualifiers.


     

Latvia

  • Ingus Jakovics (Ventspils) has combined for 8+ points and 3+ assists in his last three appearances in the World Cup Qualifiers.
  • Rihards Lomazs (Ventspils) has made 60% of his attempted FG in the WCQ: no other Latvian player has scored at a highest ratio from the field in the competition.



Lithuania

  • Arnoldas Kulboka (Brose Bamberg) has scored 60% of his five 3PT attempts in his only appearance with Lithuania in the World Cup Qualifiers.
  • Adas Juskicevicius (Nanterre 92) has made 11+ points in five of his eight appearances in the World Cup Qualifiers; he has played more minutes than any other Lithuanian player in the competition (159).
  • Jonas Maciulis (AEK) has appeared in 81 international games, the most among all active Lithuanian players - only five players in Lithuania history has played more games than Maciulis.



Mexico

  • Francisco Cruz (Montatkit Fuenlabrada) has scored on average 20 points per game in these Qualifiers, more than any other player in Americas.



Slovenia

  • Blaz Mesicek (Petrol Olimpija) has averaged 11 points per game in the Second Round of these World Cup Qualifiers while making 87.5% of his attempted FT.
  • Miha Lapornik (Petrol Olimpija) has scored 10 points in the only game he has played 20+ minutes in the World Cup Qualifiers.



Spain

  • Javier Beiran (Iberostar Tenerife) has made 2+ shots from behind the arc in three of his five appearances with Spain in the World Cup Qualifiers: he has scored 64.3% of his 14 attempted 3-pointers in the competition.

Turkey

  • Tolga Gecim (Banvit) has scored 17 points in the only game in these Qualifiers in which he has played more than six minutes: vs Ukraine he made 15 points while seeing 21 minutes of action on the floor.
