MIES (Switzerland) - You may have read Igor's Help-Side column on the Basketball Champions League all-time records, and you should, since this fifth week of competition is not an ordinary one. Indeed, even if it's only the beginning of the third season, the Basketball Champions League celebrated this week the 100,000th point scored in the competition. Time to have a look at some key numbers.
38 games have seen overtimes since the beginning of the Basketball Champions League: 32 have seen a simple overtime, four have seen a double overtime and two a triple overtime. Rosa Radom have played the most games with overtimes (5), followed by SIG Strasbourg and Umana Reyer Venezia (4 each).
Umana Reyer Venezia and Italy
- Umana Reyer Venezia have been in three of the six most prolific scoring games in BCL history.
- Five of the six most high-scoring games in BCL history featured an Italian team: Umana Reyer Venezia (3) and Sidigas Avellino (2).
- Umana Reyer Venezia have scored 100+ points in five different BCL games, the most among all teams in the history of the competition. Iberostar Tenerife, Sidigas Avellino and EWE Baskets Oldenburg have all scored 100+ points in three different games in the league.
The game between Umana Reyer Venezia and UNET Holon during Gameday 2 of this season was the highest scoring game in the history of the competition, with both teams combining for 215 points (111-104).
Currently two players have scored 500+ points in the competition (excluding Qualifications): Dusan Sakota (519) and Rickey Paulding (514). Together combined they have scored more points (1,033) than 23 teams to have taken part in the competition.
656 Basketball Champions League games have been played so far, by 63 different teams, with an average per game of 153 points scored, 55.7 FGs made and 44.7 FG%.
Eight teams have reached the 3,000-point mark in BCL so far: MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg (3,581), AEK (3,514), Banvit (3,387), Iberostar Tenerife (3,238), AS Monaco (3,219), Umana Reyer Venezia (3,150), SIG Strasbourg (3,005) and CEZ Nymburk (3,000).
Four teams’ countries have reached the 10,000-point mark in BCL so far: teams from France have scored 12,103 points, followed by Turkey (11,431), Germany (11,152) and Italy (10,832).
