MIES, Switzerland (Basketball Champions League) - Let's have a look at some key facts for next week's Game of the Week in each group.

Group A: Pinar Karsiyaka (TUR) vs EWE Baskets Oldenburg (GER)

  • In the GD3 matchup, EWE Baskets Oldenburg beat Pinar Karsiyaka 96-82. That was EWE Baskets Oldenburg's third win over a Turkish team in the BCL history (W3, 1D, 1L).
  • Pinar Karsiyaka (768 points) and EWE Baskets Oldenburg (799 points) are the most prolific scoring teams in the competition this season.
  • Pinar Karsiyaka have scored 52% of their field goals attempted, the best in the league. Only two other teams have scored more than 50% of their FG attempted: AS Monaco (51.1%) and EWE Baskets Oldenburg (50.8%).
  • EWE Baskets Oldenburg have scored 44% of their 3PT attempted, the best in the league.
  • D.J. Kennedy has scored 153 points (21.9 per game) and has grabbed 69 rebounds (9.9 per game) this season, leading the league in both categories.

 

Group B: Elan Chalon (FRA) vs Ventspils (LAT)

  • In their GD3 matchup, Ventspils beat Elan Chalon 78-77. That was their second victory over a French team in BCL history (W2, L1).
  • Elan Chalon have won three of their four home games in the Regular Season of the BCL. Only the reigning champion Iberostar Tenerife (73-61) have won at Elan Chalon's home court.
  • Elan Chalon have never lost when their opponents scored less than 70 points.
  • Ventspils have scored only 41.6% of their 2-pointers attempted this season, fewer than any other team.
  • Only two other centers have grabbed more rebounds than Chalon’s Ousmane Camara(7.2) on average per game in the BCL this season.


Group C:
Movistar Estudiantes (ESP) vs SIG Strasbourg (FRA)

  • Movistar Estudiantes have failed to win consecutive games in the BCL since winning both GD1 and GD2. SIG Strasbourg was the first team to win against Movistar Estudiantes during this campaign, it was in GD3 (77-74).
  • SIG Strasbourg have lost their last two games (vs Petrol Olimpija and medi Bayreuth) but have never lost three in a row in that competition.
  • SIG Strasbourg (2nd – 9.2) and Movistar Estudiantes (4th – 8.7) are two of the four teams to have made the most steals per game on average this season in the BCL.
  • No player has made more blocks than Estudiantes’ Alec Brown (17) in the competition this season.
  • Louis Labeyrie (8.4) has grabbed more rebounds per game than any other forward in the BCL this season.

 

Group D: Oostende (BEL) vs Sidigas Avellino (ITA)

  • Sidigas Avellino have won their last two BCL games against Oostende, including a 78-73 win at the Versluys Dôme in January 2017.
  • Oostende have won their last three home games in the BCL but have never managed to win four in a row in their own arena.
  • Sidigas Avellino have lost their last three away games in the BCL Regular Season, after having only lost one of their first eight.
  • Only Iberostar Tenerife (39) have made more blocks than Sidigas Avellino (38) in the BCL this season, with Hamady Ndiaye joint-leading the competition among the players (17 blocks).
  • Only one other center (Jordan Morgan – 8.3) has taken more rebounds per game on average than Oostende’s Tonye Jekiri (7.7) in the BCL 2017/18.
