Bochoridis leads Aris to second win over Stelmet Zielona Gora

ZIELONA GORA (Basketball Champions League) - Aris made it two wins from two against Stelmet Zielona Gora with a 80-72 victory on Tuesday evening on the road.

Lefteris Bochoridis went 7-for-11 from the field for 22 points and 9 assists in a dominant performance for Aris, who responded to a big third quarter rally from the home side to pull out the win and improve 4-4 in Group D.

Gary Bell had 15 points, 7 of which came in the fourth quarter, with Keith Benson adding 13.

Vladimir Dragicevic had 16 points to lead Zielona Gora, with Savovic adding 11.

A fast paced start saw both teams exchanging baskets early. A Jaroslaw Mokros corner three gave Zielona Gora their first lead 8-6 midway through the first. However, as they would do all game, Aris responded to regain control.

James Florence had a nice drive to beat the first quarter buzzer, but the visitors led led 15-12 after the opening period.

A Stelios Pouliantis three followed by a Christidis two gave Aris their first double-digit of the game 22-12 less than two minutes into the second quarter.

Aris would retain that control, leading 38-32 at halftime, behind 8 points from Bochoridis, whilst Florence had 8 to lead Zielona Gora.

Momentum changed in the third quarter as the home side found their rhythm.

A 9-0 run sparked by Dragicevic, who had 6 of them, saw Zielona take a 45-44 lead with four minutes to play in the third to take control for the first time since the early stages.

But Aris once again responded. Baskets from Michaelis Tsairelis, Keith Benson and another big three from Bochoridis saw Aris regain control, leading 56-51 heading into the final period.

And when the visitors opened the period on a 13-6 run, the home side's fate had all but been sealed. Plagued by poor decisions down the stretch, Zielona Gora were unable to close the gap and Aris cruised to the win.
