MVP Urbonas of Rytas Vilnius headlines All-Star Five

DEBRECEN (Hungary) - Ignas Urbonas of champions Rytas Vilnius had two reasons to celebrate in Debrecen on Sunday as after leading his team to the 2024 Youth BCL title, he was voted tournament MVP.

The 2007-born, Lithuanian U16 national team guard put up a game-high 17 points in the Final and added 9 rebounds and 3 steals. His tournament averages of 19 points and 6.6 rebounds saw him top score in all five of Rytas's games as they powered their way to the Youth BCL trophy. 


Urbonas was also a crowd favorite, entertaining with huge dunks on the offensive end and highlight blocks on defense throughout the tournament.

Galatasaray's Kerem Erdem joined Urbonas in the All-Star Five,  with tournament averages of 13.5 points, 7.5 assists, and 6.5 rebounds. He was instrumental in the Turkish team's unbelievable 39-point win over Hapoel Jerusalem to reach the Semi-Final.

The balanced lineup also saw Tofas Bursa's Efe Postel claim a place, having finished with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists per outing whilst shooting 38.5 percent from deep. 

Igokea m:tel's Andrej Acimovic and Lenovo Tenerife's Babel Yitu Lipasi, who completed the lineup,  had standout individual campaigns for their clubs. Both players finished in the tournament top 5 for rebounds, averaging 11.8 and 10.2 per game respectively.

Acimovic also averaged 14.8 points per game in just 25.2 minutes, whilst Babel Yitu Lipasi averaged 11.4 points and 2.4 blocks, leading the tournament with an average efficiency rating of 22.2.
