Aris add Jankovic on loan from Valencia

THESSALONIKI (Basketball Champions League) – Group A participants have secured the services of sharp-shooting small forward Vlantimir Jankovic (Giankovits) until the end of the current season following a loan agreement with Valencia Basket, the Greek club announced on Monday night.

"I don't like to say many words, I prefer to talk on the court," the 26-year-old Greek international stated soon after this move to the Thessaloniki club concluded. "I would just like to say a big thanks to coach Dimitris Priftis and the management of Aris for making all of this happen."

Jankovic signed for Valencia in the summer following a three-year-spell at Panathinaikos, but he found only limited playing time in the Spanish league, featuring in only two games and logging a total of 21 minutes. While at Panathinaikos, he had celebrated the conquest of one Greek championship and three Greek Cup titles.

The small forward had started his career at the youth teams of Panionios, which was the last club of his late father Boban Jankovic and played there until his transfer to Panathinaikos, with the exception of a brief loan spell to Mega Vizura (now Mega Leks).

The new perimeter player of Aris possesses a fantastic medal collection with the youth national teams of Greece, as he is part of the highly successful generation of 1990-born player. Jankovic was a member of the Greek national team that claimed gold at the U18 FIBA European Championship of 2008 and at the U20 FIBA European Championship of 2009, as well as the silver medal at the U19 World Championship of that same year.
