Week 1 Round of 16 Game of the Week Preview: Galatasaray v Limoges

ISTANBUL (Turkey) - The Round of 16 gets underway this Tuesday and the first Game of the Week for this stage in the Basketball Champions League is a matchup from Group K between Galatasaray Nef and Limoges CSP.

Where: Istanbul, Turkey (Sinan Erdem Arena)

When: 18:00 CET

Galatasaray got an automatic spot in the Round of 16 thanks to winning their Regular Season group, while Limoges booked their ticket to the Round of 16 after edging past MHP RIESEN in a thrilling three-game Play-In series.

Galatasaray will welcome two new additions to their roster in guard Daron "Fatts" Russell who last played for KK Mornar Bar in Montenegro, and Serbian center Dusan Ristic who came over from Fuenlabrada in Spain. Both players will be key additions to a team who are looking to replace the production and fill the void that was left by Dee Bost.

  • Galatasaray have won six of their last nine home games in the BCL, however, two of the three defeats in that span came in the Round of 16 last season; Galatasaray failed only three times to score 80+ points in their 12 home games in the BCL, but they were all three during the round of 16 in 2021-22.
  • Galatasaray are the only team averaging fewer than 10 turnovers per game in the BCL this season (9.7) and are also the team with the best assist per turnover ratio in the competition (2.7).
  • Tyrus Mcgee has scored 15+ points in his last two games in the BCL with Galatasaray but has never had a longer such streak; McGee has scored a total of 696 points, the 10th most of any player in BCL history – he will soon reach Tony Taylor (699), Tim Abromaitis (700) and Kevin Punter (706).
  • Limoges have won three of their last four away games in the BCL after losing each of the previous four; they were trailing at halftime in each of their last seven away games in the competition.
  • Limoges have the best defensive FG percentage in the BCL in 2022-23, conceding only 38.9 percent of the shots attempted by their opponents; they also have the best defensive two-point percent in the league this season (44.4 percent).
